It's a map, and a gamemode. The 2 big guys are the objectives with healthbars. They fight eternally and in more than in one way as regardless of the fighting animations they deal no damage to eachother.

When starting off on the angel side of Eternal Conflict, sometimes the angel will say "we shall not tarry" as the gates open. I always like to imagine it as you overhearing the end of a heated phone call between him and his demon lover, Terry. So you get the "We shall NOT, Terry!" and then the fight begins.
