I've seen them live, saw them live this year actually, the show was fucking amazing.

The thing with this is band is not only that they have been around for a long time, is that together with the swedish bands Dark Tranquility, At The Gates and In Flames, they helped shape the new genre that was melodic death metal. This album in particular came out a couple of years before the breakthrough albums of those swedish bands (which were all released around 1995), so you can say that Carcass were true pioneers. Not to mention, Michael Amott (who later founded Arch Enemy) was a member around this time ;)

Incarnated Solvent Abuse by Carcass is their ultimate classic

If you noticed some Arch Enemy vibes there it is because Arch Enemy's founder and guitarist Michael Amott played on that album and contributed to the iconic melodic sound that characterizes that album (previous Carcass records were more brutal and faster, closer to traditional Death Metal and Grindcore). This album was the beginning of Melodic Death Metal...speaking of which, you should react to some "At The Gates" or "In Flames" (I don't remember if you've already reacted to them) Try "Blinded by Fear" or "Slaughter of the Soul" by At The Gates and "Jotun", "Colony" or "Pinball Map" by In Flames!

seen em live in 2014 at hellfest - amazing live too and Jeff the singer/bassist enjoys to interact w/ the crowd, shoot the shit/joking around. This is their melo death days, prior to this they were a goregrind death band. Check out albums symphonies of sickness and necrotisim and for a really raw experience listen to reek of putrefaction from '88.

Go for something newer off Surgical Steel. They struck a pretty nice marriage of their earlier brutal stuff and the melodic stuff nicely. The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills, The Master Butcher's Apron, or Unfit for Human Consumption.

Pagan's Mind and Circus Maximus, my friend! Pagan's Mind: Progressive power metal. Pretty spacey and very melodic. Check out Intermission (with my favourite solo ever), Resurrection (Back in Time), Osiris' Triumphant Return, New World Order, Eyes on Fire or God's Equation. Circus Maximus: Also somewhat power metal influenced, but they're more progressive/aor. Even more melodic than Pagan's Mind tbh. Check out Architect of Fortune, Last Goodbye, Loved Ones, After the Fire, Burn After Reading, Chivalry, The Weight or Remember.
