Amazing piece of history you can still enjoy on the road. I own a 62 beetle and just love everything about it. I do wish I had a time machine to go back to that early 60's era, but will settle for my time capsule.

Wow-- amazing especially with that original engine--You know the VW was actually to help out bus riders and that's all it was ever designed for, absolute basic transportation and now they are a ICON, love to watch the old youtube VW commercials from the 40's and 50's mainly German

I know this is off subject, but does anybody remember an old VW movie possibly in the seventies that was kind of like Herbie but I think the beetle was yellow?

My mom had a 1950 VW beetle that she bought in St Louis It had the speedometer in Kilometers and the gas guage was in Liters Was it bought in Germany and shipped over to the US ?
@randycarlson77817 жыл бұрын
It was probably brought over by a private party or an independent importer. A fuel gauge would be an aftermarket accessory, must have been added later as in 1950 they did not come equipped with one.

Cant say I remember much about it I was born in 65, and a tornado caused the roof of the garage to fall on it in 1968 So I was 3 years old My Dad sold it soon after the tornado

Most likely brought over by a US soldier posted in Germany, who had it sent over, when he was discharged.
