If you watch closely there's a yellow 69 that was used with no Wing windows that has the Malibu Fender trim and an SS emblem in the grill and then another yellow 69 with SS fender eyebrow (shorter). The speedometer shown early on was from a 68 Chevelle and the car that was wrecked in the end had a 68 front bumper and wing windows. It's clealy a 68. The car used early on is a 69 and probably an SS. It has SS front turn signal lenses.

Mostly all 50s Chevys had that Squeak. No matter what you did it never went away. Same for some 70s Ford's.

My cousin had a ss grn/grn. 396, 4spd Whenever his wife {fyn,assntts,my1st} would drive it, she would "red-line" it in 1st gear (6k) until it is shaking like a wet chihuahua, then she would drop it straight into 4th gear and just giggle.

Cadillac made a 429 from like 64 to 67. Would've probably been around the time he was racing the '57.
@matthewcaughey889810 күн бұрын
You do know you can very easily tweak the bore and stroke on a 427 to essentially give you a 429.
@TwoBlackMarks9 күн бұрын
@@matthewcaughey8898 OK, so you would offset grind the crank and bore the block. To go to 429 cid from an 427?, While my comment is 7 years old, and I cannot remember why I wrote it, I guess it is a song in the movie, I would like to see how and why you would create a 429 out of an 427.
@TwoBlackMarks9 күн бұрын
@@ryanclem9386To answer this old comment. That could make sense, from a wrecked Caddy, but I would think in those years if he would have gone for a newer engine in those years a W style 409 or 427 I would think would make more sense. Or a BBC. An Cadillac 429 from a wreck I would think still was rather expensive, since so new. If he was a racer for many years already he could have have a lot of Cadillac experience already maybe, so it would really make sense. I think my comment is from a song in the movie, but I am not sure.
