The prices of these have really crept up into Lexus territory. The key is these still give you the big V6. Lexus has slipped the rougher complex 4 cylinder hybrid drivetrain into almost the entire RX & TX lineup. More mileage but less luxury, imo.

If I’m not mistaken, the wood trim in the model you tested is made of layers of wood and also recycled color newspapers that are cut at an angle and overlayed on top of the wood. I read that if you look closely, you can actually make out some of the letters and font in the newspaper.

Love the looks of this vehicle, but Genesis is leaving "value luxury" in the rearview with this pricing. I have to wonder how successful they will be when it comes to competing against the established players. I can see them stealing business from the Japanese brands, but I feel like very few people are cross-shopping Genesis against the Germans because Audi / BMW / Mercedes buyers are buying the badge as much as the car and Genesis doesn't have the same upmarket panache just yet. Once they aren't bringing considerably lower prices to the table like they were, I think they might be flying too high too soon. At the very least, they need to get their dealership model squared away before trying to appeal to customers looking to spend this kind of money.

Was looking to lease a GV70 Sport near year-end, but that GV80 Coupé has my attention as a viable alternative - and definitely agree with you guys’ “Airball.” The only models I’ve seen have those wheels; I’m hoping they have better options for those of us who only prefer OEM wheels, b’c those made me think the 4-cylinder engine was an actual option.

Nice review. I hate these panoramic screens, much prefer the original GV70/GV80 dashes with a hooded instrument cluster (framed by the steering wheel) and separate infotainment screen with a good controller. These pano screens look like afterthoughts and bring no practical benefits, other than that the GV80 Coupe is beautiful. I have a 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, and love it but I won't buy the 2026 model with a pano screen, deal breaker to me.

This is a base model I approve of. Its an expensive base model but its nice. I really like the seats and all the contrast piping and stitching. I agree with Mason too that is a nice steering wheel. Its fitting for a vehicle of this price of the vehicle. Imo though, I still think the X6 is better looking. It looks a lot more aggressive especially when you choose an M sport model and I like how bmw did the coupe styling more than Genesis.

I could get a new X6 for less than that Genesis. I get the GV80 has many more interior luxury, so to speak. But, I have heard horror stories about the dealers, post buy, service, getting (or not getting) loaners, etc. It might be that the GV 80 is a better car for someone in my situation. I am older, not interested in racing my car or darting about on the expressways, etc. I would certainly do the coupe vs the other model. The X5 - which I now have as I got an unbelievable deal on it - is better looking in my opinion compared to the GV80 regular version. I have seen examples of the chrome on the Genesis cars getting blemished or even peeling. I am not saying never, but….

An embarrassment that genesis released this without wireless CarPlay, they have been saying since the 2023 model they will provide an update soon to make the gv models wireless. Don’t fall for it. It's the base model. The upper trim has 22-inch rims, which look superb. The rear look is a matter of personal taste. I myself like it way more than my 2021 GV80.

I have never dealt with a more difficult company in my life. I will never buy another vehicle from them, not ever. People think these cars are so cool that they’re gonna drop 80 grand down to buy them and engine problems start up. They’ll treat you like garbage. They’re nasty and they’ll tell you it’s not covered under warranty. Buyer beware

I was also treated horrible at a Kia dealership. It was by the manager. The sales guy was excellent. Long story short til this day. I would never drive a kia. Not even a rental. They will get no advertising from me

It seems like you have been quite unlucky! My Genesis GV80 has been flawless, and usually when it is time for mandatory service, my car gets picked up for service, and they usually leave a loaner car for you to use while they service your car!
