Thanks for watching everyone and BIG THANKS for getting us so close to 100k subscribers!! On another note, it has been brought to our attention that (contrary to Toyota's own press release) some versions of the Tundra SR and SR5 do still come with a regular key, not the Smart Key system as stated in the video. Thanks for your understanding!

I just traded my 2008 TRD in for a 2019 platinum. The sad thing is, my truck was paid off, had 120000 miles and still ran wonderfully. All I had to do with my 2008 is replace the battery and the starter. GREAT truck except for the "JBL upgrade" which I think is a downgrade. it sounds like turds.

Still have my loaded doublecab 2007 with 139k miles. Been riding it on bad starter forever just never replaced it yet but I have it. Have the towiing package and 4.10 rear gears. When I see the inside of a 2020 tundra I see almost everything I see in my 2007. The 5.7 liter engine which I have is still the top motor size u can get which is another reason I didnt get a newer one. I'm just fibd with my loaded one with every option which is on my channel

In the near future I'm doing the oem toyota headlights / fogs . Last will be some Trd blacked out rims. Then I'll just sit back as the truck racks up 300 400 thousand. .

Every car I've driven and owned was the most long luxurious car you could ever get so I'm used to old-fashioned even Toyota's luxury is too much for me. But I choose Toyota's old fashioned look any day because that's what I'm used to. All I care about is reliability and durability
@TXrapidracer
@TXrapidracer 5 жыл бұрын
The biggest issue with this truck is that if you buy one that is 10 years old and park in next to a new one, there is very little changes to it. Sometimes this can be a bad thing, especially when many buyers like change, but for Toyota I think it is a good thing. The platinum looks a bit too plain for me though. I have an '18 1794, so far I have installed a Banks supercharger, exhaust, tweaked the programming on the tranny, and it has actually improved my fuel mileage. I do not understand why Toyota has to run 4 cat converters when most states only require 1-2. The engine in this truck is a beast and I can only imagine how it would perform if Toyota decided to come out with a 700-800 hp version. I would definitely buy one.

Good luck you won’t regret it please let me know if you get it and what color I’m curious 😊 and remember right now if you buy one it’s going to be a V8 because I think 🤔 the new ones are going to be V6 that’s what I heard but don’t quote me on it ! The lack of the grab handle on the driver's side has me mystified. I now ASSUME Toyota feels it's OK to grab the steering wheel to yank your butt into the truck. And, it will not cause any problems after years of use to the steering wheel or electronics in the wheel. But no one seems to know if that's true or not.

Toyota did a pretty nice job updating the interior. I just want them to update the power train now. The 5.7L and 4.6L V8s, while durable, are old as hell. Toyota has a much newer 5.0L V8 which they could easily tune to put out more torque and get better gas mileage. The 6 speed transmission is also extremely outdated with Ford and GM using 10 speeds and Ram using an 8 speed

I drove them all and I think Tundra is the best. Dodge drives nice and has good features, but they don't feel rugged or tough and they are not particularly reliable. Chev drives nice but the interior are full of cheap ass thin plastic that rattles and buzzes. They have issues not widely known with oil pumps. Ford is probably the best out of the big 3 but I hate Ford because Ford owner are the most obnoxious crowd I've ever fucking seen. Tundra's are built better and feel more rugged. Yeah they are pigs on gas, but Ram is only marginally better.

I drove them all as well. I'm not a loyalty guy either. When I decided to get a truck I thought it would get either a ford or the tundra. I ended up buying a Ram Rebel, rugged, by far the nicest interior(tundra was the worst) and with incentives I paid less then they would sell the Tundra limited. Reliability? Time will tell. 10,000 k so far so good.

Thank you for another great review. So, still no remote-start and the opening of the door is delayed - like the earlier versions of auto-unlock of other manufacturers of 5 years ago. They should have gone with the instant unlock that has been out for a year or two. And the lack of remote-start is a deal killer these days. wait.. no driver assist grip? On a Platinum?? And plastics? eeessh wow.. 2020 is looking very dated already.

I don’t know why Toyota even bothers trying to make luxury options. They always have done such a terrible job of it. They either need to get better at it, or they should just stop trying. Stick to capability, and reliability. That’s why people buy them anyway. I don’t think they’d lose customers for leaving out their “luxury” options.

@Atlas_rain

It has them, they just don’t execute very well. Still lots of hard plastic, unattractive hardware, poor quality stitching and leather on the seats. Interior as a whole looks older than it is. Anyone who specifically wants a luxury truck will go somewhere else, so I think they could save a few bucks by not trying. Or...maybe this is them not trying so much. Don’t really know. I just know they aren’t even competitive on those features. But like I said, that’s also not why people buy Toyota’s anyway.

Why should they try so hard on a slight refresh when the Tundra is gonna be brand new in a couple months? Also, if Toyota has always done such a terrible job and luxury oriented things, explain Lexus. The Tundra is just old, plain and simple literally.
@Atlas_rain
@Atlas_rain 5 жыл бұрын
Well a refresh would be the immediate answer to the issues, however that’s not what I really meant. In general, forever they have never been up to other companies. So if they stayed true to their nature, even a refresh would be disappointing for that stuff. Also, Lexus is just as bad. If Toyota competes with non-luxury brands, and that’s what I am comparing it to, then Lexus is competing with the luxury brands. And Lexus falls far behind Audi, BMW, and Mercedes in terms of luxury as well. All for basically the same reasons. Still a lot of use of cheap, unattractive hardware, and outdated styling. Better than Toyota, but still not on par with their true competition. I’m not a Toyota hater, I have a 2012 Camry as one of my cars that I love for what I bought it for.
@huythai1222
@huythai1222 5 жыл бұрын
Josh McQueen lol. We have a lx570 and a ls460l. Don’t say things like that when you don’t drive a Lexus. I ain’t hatin but quality can also be compared as reliability. Our previous gl550/GLS and S-class suffered multiple electronic failures, air strut failures, and transmission issues in the GL. The GL was a sad comparison to the LX even from 2010 (the year of our GL) with the hard plastic center console, tiny info screen, and creaks and rattles galore. The S-class is on par luxury wise with our LS460l, which also dates back to the S-class. The S has more power, but of course reliability is shit. Also, you’re saying Lexus IS boring with outdated tech? The LS has the first full LED headlights, autonomous parking, and semi autonomous driving tech since 2008. The current LS has the largest HUD with active pedestrian, stop sign, and cross traffic detection. It’s semi autonomous, it has good power and good mpg for its size, and it’s luxurious as well. Styling wise, Lexus was the first to adopt the big grille and aggressive styling trend. Now you see BMW following suit with the enlarged tiger nose, Audi with their pentagon grille etc etc. for the things Lexus has done in just 30 years of existence, they give off a heritage much larger than what they actually have.

It's a nice truck but like I said before, if they worked on better fuel mileage it would be in the bag. My sons 2003 tundra gets terrible fuel mileage but it's good for a 1st vehicle. Who wants a new vehicle that you have to constantly keep putting gas in. People want some kind of decent fuel mileage. You have to wow people with important stuff 1st.

Bb Cala that’s bs. Unless you have a V6 MAYBE. I had a 5.4 and that thing drank gas like koolaid. Your sons truck probably has a small gas tank. Or larger, heavier tires.

Well I have been working on vehicles for a long time. There is ways to check all kinds of things like fuel mileage. Trust me young man. Fuel tank is a least 25 gal. I drive 220 mile round trip. Hands down Toyota drinks more gas. My 2003 sipercrew 4x4 gets better mileage. Both trucks on stock tires n rims. But Toyota has new tires n rims but still stock. It's ok to argue the factor. But facts are facts trust me guy I know. I have worked on vehicle's for almost 40 years n have done all kinds of test
@seabass22
@seabass22 5 жыл бұрын
Bb Cala okay, just saying it might be smaller. Guy next door to me has a tank on his 2014 that is like 21 gallons or something. I had a supercrew 2 wheel drive 5.4 2007 F-150 and it drank the gas. My Silverado I just got rid of drank the gas at a 13-14 avg on 33s. Tundra I just got is 15-16 mpg average. Gets about 19 doing 50 on the highway. I’ll agree, it’s a half-ton that gets about 3/4 ton mileage. By today’s standards anyway. But ask yourself what a little bit of fuel mileage means, when you’re looking at replacing an engine at 105k miles in the near future. Happens all the time on these newer trucks.
