I own the 2024 HR-V for having just moved to Alaska. Gotta say, it does excellent for what we need. Pothole ridden gravel roads are the norm here, and it does excellent. Back when we had it in the city the acceleration was a bit weak, but I'm not a fan of SUV's having too quick acceleration; these things are tanks and battering rams for pedestrians and smaller cars. The 2.0L Engine isn't quick, but doesn't feel like it's ever struggling. Carving through the mountains and hills, this thing does just fine. The AWD system works well, gets us up some hills and nasties just fine. Sure there's more off-road vehicles out there, but for the price point, this thing does EXACTLY what we need it to here in Alaska. Only thing I'd say is that the stock tires don't work great in the snow, but I have some Studded tires for my second set. Love the HR-V, definitely recommend. Especially in delicious Milano red.

Last year in 23, I was looking to trade my 20 Fit EX as I had 8200.00 equity toward a new car. I wanted a 23 Accord EX. In Texas, my car insurance was going up 445.00 in my 6 months. A Civic, you couldn’t find last year was 440.00 more for insurance. The lowest insurance increase was the 24 HRV EXL at 235.00. I paid 29,000. No mark ups as I refused. I got 5.9 interest, not average of 9.97. My Fit was 330 a month. My HRV is 342.00. I put 2 J down to. Financed 20,500. My loan now is 11,800 in 10 months. I’m paying extra principal. Gas mileage sucks ass but I work at home. If you buy one get the EXL for leather, power seat, sun roof, blind spot, wireless charging. It’s not an Accord that I want but I refuse to pay my insurance company more. I got the show room car as the Honda dealer had sold the other 3 they had.

You could have switched insurance companies like the experts tell us to do every 3-4 years and get a better rate to bring them new business. Loyalty doesn’t pay like it did for your grandparents. You tell them do a rerate too where they pull your credit and see if it improved. Why don’t you keep the Fit. And who is the “9.5% normal” for ? That’s rape! That’s for people with awful credit. I just bought a 2025 Camry Hybrid and got 4.9% which is Toyotas best rate. Fortunately I have enough to pay it off and will in a few days. I only got it a week ago. That will save me $5000.00 in interest. You are probably only paying about $3 per day in interest on your balance with that rate.

my mom and nana both have owned many hondas throughout their lives (my nana has had 8, my mom has had 4) and when it's time for them to get new cars, they're both leaving the brand after 25+ loyal years. the insane price increases are now unjustifiable for the ratio of luxury to dollars. my mom currently has a 2021 CR-V and in 2021 the MSRP of her EX-L AWD was 31,900 and that's what she paid. now, a 2025 CR-V EX-L AWD is over 38k with the few options she has (rubber mats and cargo tray, door and moonroof visors). 32k just barely gets you a FWD LX now. not to mention, the only features that the 25 has over the 21 are LED headlights /interior lights and a bigger screen. that's it! for 6k more than the 21 price. my nana has a 2020 HR-V EX FWD. since the EX trim is no more, the closest in comparison would be the Sport. her HRV in 2020 was 22k, and now the Sport is 27k. the 2020 has a sunroof as well and the Sport doesn't. again, only upgrades are LED headlights and interior lights. plus you loose the magic rear seat and the 20 gets better gas mileage (38 usually). it makes more sense for my mom to switch to VW, as she really likes the new Atlas Cross Sport. after dealer incentives, it's only 3k more than the CRV and is a bigger, more powerful and much better equipped vehicle that she is actually going to be happy with her decision with. my nana on the other hand, doesn't drive much so it won't be time for an upgrade for hopefully a while, but she really likes the Ford Maverick, and it is only 2.5k more than the HRV. also tell me how it makes sense that a CR-V EX-L AWD is only 2.5K less than a Passport EX-L AWD?

LOL "Hard acceleration"... The droning of the CVT just makes it SO much worse, us older types (I'm 60) just think the manual clutch is slipping badly or the auto tranny is low on fluid. Ugh. Honda should have made the CR-V engine/CVT an option, you KNOW it would fit. Or at least offer a factory turbo option for 200hp. At the elevations I regularly drive (9,300ft+) this thing would TOTALLY suck to drive.

Do not buy a HRV... I had the 2023 HRV and the engine is underpowered and the gas miliage is trash because the engine is working so hard all the time. Its a terrible driving experience. Room in the car is tight.... I'm 5'10 and I felt cramped. Just listen to the engine in the video... So bad. Don't say I didn't warn you.

My sister loves her 2024 HR-V EX-L AWD. She's had it just over a month and a half. Already 3,500+ miles on it. My nephew loves his 2024 Civic Sport Hatchback CVT 2.0 4ycyl. It's the same in HR-V.

Hyundai Kona against this

My vote would be for the Kona or KIA Seltos without question. Many people are still hung up on the Honda badge though. If you test drive either of those vehicles against this, there would be no way you would settle on an HR-V.

That thing needs a facelift in the baddest way. I would choose one of Mazda's options over the HR-V 100% of the time. That's not just because of how it looks.

Underpowered. They need an AWD hybrid version. The CX-30 or Crosstrek with 2.5L. are a better value and more powerful.

The HRV is a Turd when it comes to power and acceleration. I would never buy the HRV. Honda will need to hybridize that car or put a better engine in it. I like cars that move when you step on the gas!

HR-V sucks! Honda could have a great car for a specific consumer but messed it up with this weak motor.

The front grille is soooo faqin UGLY man, its like some body started the work but they didn't finish it due to corruption and lack of budget ..... they should have make it bigger and wider like Acura RDX or Lexus NX F Sport. Or just joint the front grill with the bumper grill together.

Definitely DO NOT BUY the HR-V. The WORST new car I've ever test driven. I honestly don't understand how it is a serious offering from a major car-maker. It is unbelievably bad. Seats are made of concrete, suspension is made of concrete, steering is column/rack is made of concrete (heavy steering weight). Road noise is atrocious. The rock-hard suspension makes the interior bits squeak and rattle. Insanely uncomfortable car. Not worth even $15k.
