Just did "water spot removal" on my Jeep JK with Meguiars Ultimate Compound. I was able to remove OLD water spots BY HAND, (don't have one of those electric thing-ama-jigs")! This compound worked perfectly and left the paint looking shiny and new! I have watched a few KZbin videos comparing different chemical solutions for removing water spots, but none of them included this stuff! It works by hand, well enough, but I suggest getting an electric polisher.

I am watching your channel for some time now and can truly say, that your way of explaining and demonstrating car detailing is in evidence of your fantastic skill and professionalism. 6 years late but nonetheless, I have studied your cleaning and polishing for beginners video multiple times and now I find this when I was looking at getting these two products...the sole fact that you find these to be good and had good results with them is enough for me to get them. Some reviews on the shop sites say these products leave streaks and marks etc, but your seal of approval so to speak weighs a lot more. Thanks for this!

You are right about making sure you work this stuff in long enough. I've used this a lot and the biggest mistake I've made when I first used it was not buffing long enough. I found it work best using a DA and going until the compound almost turns clear and is barely visible. Also....I found that it was critical to make sure when you wipe it off, you switch micro fiber clothes fairly often. Using the same one will end up just smearing it around if the cloth is coated with the stuff. I went through a dozen or so doing a complete truck. Thanks for vid!

Did you use a damp cloth? I’m using a DA and by the time I got to it to wipe off it was practically tar 😭
@SK-pn1pe
@SK-pn1pe 2 ай бұрын
@@jaymekarina I think if you have that much product still on the surface to wipe off....then you're probably using too much or not buffing long enough. It should almost be gone when you stop buffing. You are basically wiping down the panel of any tiny amounts or smudges, etc. Shouldn't be any real product left...if that makes sense.

Thank you thank you thank you for the detail in this video. My favorite part was when you explained that it is based off an original compound, and made to be more user friendly and forgiving. Hearing this makes it feel safer to use, and that's really important when you're talking about the difference between damaging and not damaging your paint. Obviously most of us aren't professionals, but know that just like painting your walls, it can be done by yourself with the right tools. Anyways thanks again great video 👍

What a great video. I just bought the compound and the guy behind the counter told me that is was better to bring the car to a detailshop. First of all. I like to work on my car. So I ignored him and bought it anyway. Must say I was a bit scared of using this. But after this video not anymore. To the point and no fuss. That's what I needed to hear. I will start this sunday. Ive been told ultimate compound is full of fillers but I used it to get rid of some scratches (by hand) and did a fantastic job, the correction seems to be permanent. There are no fillers in Ultimate Compound but Ultimate Polish have both fillers and abrasives. So with Ultimate Polish some minor defects will get removed and some gets filled. It's kind of mixture of M205 and one of their glaze product which I don't remember now.

Nice to see the results. I used this on my old beat up Audi with decent results but more so recently on my ZX6R's plastic fairings. It did a good job but with certain areas of plastic you could add damage very easily. The polish had zero noticeable effect on scratches and finish in my test area so I didn't use that in the end and just did the 1 step compound.

I actually just polished my 2014 A6 with the Ultimate Polish about a month ago. It looked pretty good, but not perfect and I was considering using the compound but didn't want to be too aggressive on my paint. Looks like I don't really need to worry too much about that and now that the dealership decided to give me a complementary wash while I was getting some service, I definitely need another polishing. I'm convinced they tried to clean it with sandpaper and brillo pads.

I actually use Ultimate Polish for "one step" polishing. Heads up on the Ultimate Compound. It can leave a great finish, but those abrasives don't degrade. They keep cutting. If you are Meguiar's professional line fan, you should still keep it in stock because sometimes UC (Ultimate Compound) works much better for soft paints as compared to M105. UC is derived from M105 but with more working time and its aggressiveness is 6 on professional line of scale. M105 is 12 and M205 is 4 on aggressiveness scale. So UC is somewhere between M105 and M205. This is reason I mentioned you must keep it in stock even if you are a professional. It helps in lot of scenarios. You must always do test sections and see which is better in your scenario.

Great video. As an amateur, I use Menzerna medium cut on a DA for swirls but if there's water etching or a scratch that's a bit too stubborn, I use Megs Ultimate Compound on a hand MF applicator. It's too slow and tiring for a pro but it gets the job done safely for me.

I know you wrote this 5 years ago, however any help is appreciated. I have hard water spots on my car that isnt coming off with my above surface methods and I admit I'm scared to try harder things such as compounds, etc. How hard of pressure and how long did you work in the compound before wiping it off? And did you just dry wipe, wet wipe, or did you rinse, then wipe? Thank you for any help!

@@Carlos.Rivera I like it, no miracles performed but I grabbed the Scatch X as well and they both have helped my old car....the cutting compound(applied with machine) is good! Going to try a second time today...its worth the $15 that's for sure! 😷

You're great at teaching/guiding us beginners. Thank you! I heard Griots Compound may be more user friendly even than Meguiar's. I plan to use the Meguiar's Polish though.

I don't care for people testing products that are not available where I live. Meguiars can be bought anywhere. As a novice I like simple and straightforward products that do the job. Most companies are making it too confusing to waste your time on their products. Thanks.

Great work. Just used these two on my VW Golf today with a DA Polisher. Excellent results ⭐️ Finished off with their Liquid Wax

I've watched a few of your videos and I like your work and the way you explain things, Good Job.....But I'm surprised that you've given these products such high praise. Meguiars must be looking after you. My car needed a light compound and as I had some Ultimate/VFO Compound on hand I decided to use it, thinking that it wouldn't be too aggressive. It eventually did the job. I used my 75mm DA Polisher and it was very difficult to get off and continually clogged up the sponge pad. Ambient temperature was 22 degrees. I tried different speeds, different amounts of compound, worked on an area no bigger than A4 size. The car has some original '03 paint, some '09 and some '17 paint on it. Slow and Tedious. Then I used the Ultimate Polish. Initially I thought I'd use the DA with a soft pad. Same thing, small area, a few passes and then you couldn't get it all off, then had to hand polish those bits off so I gave that idea away. Again, Slow and Tedious. For the last 12 years or so I've used Meguiars Medium Cut and Fine Cut blended together and then Wet Look. Both very effective and easy to use. These UnUltimate products are just too difficult to use. Maybe the Ultimate Compound only works with the Micro Fibre Pad that you used? And the Polish with the Orange Pad. I used Orange on the Compound and Blue with the Polish. The final polish with Meguiars Canuba Wax was a breeze. Easy on, Easy Off.

These two are a great combo! But in my experience ult. polish leaves haze on my black lancer which has horrendously soft paint. Works very well on intermediate paints though. :)

Tana vat Ive had a lot of success with menzerna 3500, it finishes down really well on my paint. It can be a bit dusty if you use too much product though but Im willing to overlook that drawback because of the great finish it leaves.
