The Sybil cut is one of the coolest looking cut sequences out there. And its false too (no cards have changed position when the cut is complete). The concept of the cut is credited to Chris Kenner and his book Totally Out of Control. Since then many different variations of the cut sequence have been developed.

TIP FOR SMALL HANDED PEOPLE ! When u do the very first thumb pick up (0:47) just don't pick up half, pick less than half… That will make possible to handle smaller packs between your fingers! That helped me, give this comment a thumbs up if you think same! :)
@mygoi715
@mygoi715 10 жыл бұрын
A good advice here. By the way,when you pick up at 1:40 and 2:25 for example, grab your packet as close as possible to the edges: it will open more space and your cut will be even more beautiful.

@rays5163

I usually just use an old deck when practicing packet cuts after they’ve become too stick for proper fans. But also they sell these practice thingies that are like card sized slabs of plastic to practice packet cuts with. If you’re too cheap or cant find them you always get some plywood and cut them to card dimensions

Had nothing to do and wanted to learn this, so I replayed and replayed and replayed for a couple hours. What really helped me fine tune and get my fingers to understand the movements easier was to, when he says " I'll do the whole sequence in slow-motion for you" at around 3:30, I slowed the video down to 0.25 normal speed and re-watched it numerous times and that's what got my handling memorized. kept replaying from the 3:30 mark at 1/4 speed.

I have pretty small hands and i am able to do this move fast and clean, after long practice. It took me 2-3 weeks to get the move down and i am still improving in the cleanness of this move. To all the people i see in the comments saying they struggle, don't give up. I've been in your shoes before, keep trying and if you feel like its impossible, rewatch the video and make sure you are doing the RIGHT thing. I've been stuck on this also because i did a move wrong... So keep on trying guys!

Thanks for the video. Much appreciated. If anyone is struggling I suggest using rubber bands to make your deck into four packets and practising it like that. Disturb reality's video on the sybil cut shows how to do it. To the person concerned about your hands not being big enough maybe start with a smaller deck and work up but big hands aren't needed. And to the south paw, learn it this way, my left hand is generally dominant but with patience I learnt it and am now confident doing it this way.

Ive been doing this kinda stuff for almost 4 years now, I know how to do all the classic shuffles and a few cuts and flourishes and Ive got over 200 magic tricks, the last flourish I masted was "The Werm Card Flourish" a few months ago but I can only do it slowly cos when I try to do it fast I lose grip of the cards and drop them lol.

one of the greatest sybil cut tutorials man! helped me alot!:)
@RebuildScape
@RebuildScape 10 жыл бұрын
Just a tip, if you don't feel like doing the 6 package, do a 5 package. Only take the first extra package that he explains in the video, and not the second extra. Also don't just put the package on top, give it a little twist like he does with the 6. You will have a much more smooth looking one than the 4, and only slightly less than 6, while being much easier ;)
@RebuildScape
@RebuildScape 10 жыл бұрын
Also, pretty much, he lets the 2nd package from the right go around the 3rd one form the right once, you can do it twice. It gets a longer cut, just a bit of extra stuff to practise ;)
@RebuildScape
@RebuildScape 10 жыл бұрын
Rebuild Scape Practising with just 4/5/6 cards, depending on the variation youre using, can really help getting to know the movements you've got to make. If it's too confusing, do this, you don't have to worry much about dropping your cards just yet. After you got the movement right, start using more cards.

I also prefer the 5 package version til now because i have trouble alining the two packages in the 6 package version.

MagicTheForbidden donbarzinitut I agree, this is my first time trying to do a complicated cut like this, I'm progressing and can get a fast, clean sybil cut once every 3 times or so right now and I've practised for about 10 hours all together.

Great guys! I started learning this a few minutes ago, and I got it the third time rewinding the video! :) The hardest part was the packet where you had to fold it, I still keep dropping it, but I'm practicing! :D Practice makes perfect!

It's possible. Believe me, i thought the same thing when i first started doing the cut. But it just takes practice. Watch disturb reality's tutorial on it. its a better tutorial of the cut. After i watched that video two days later I could do it easily, Now I almost got the 6 card sybil cut by 52Kards. It just takes a lot of practice when performing this cut.

Finger, position matters for the first part so you need to figure out how to cut your cards to set you up for this part where you grab the cards, with your pinky and middle finger

Make sure to grab it near the very edges. That way, when you get it back in position, it sticks out of the deck slightly.

Grip the packets with your first joint, the squishy bit of your fingers, cause the way ur doing it now I'm pretty sure is that there are gaps somewhere in the packet. I have the same problem with the Leno cut but then I figured out the problem. Hope this helps.
