There is a reason for what they are doing. The show came out before the G sets in Japan. So rather than showing us all the new cards skills in the show we get to see them as they get revealed and released in Japan. They didn't want to spoil things.

While this is still a good character episode for Shion, unfortunately it seems a few things were lost in the translation. 'Avatar' seems to describe the relationship between a fighter's ace unit and themselves better than 'identity' does, so hopefully that doesn't stay a thing. Also, I don't know anything about fencing, but one or the other or both of the original or the dub is probably wrong about the terms used (probably the dub, but I don't know). Karasumori Yuya's voice is excellent; just the type of voice you'd expect a smug jerk to have. The filter on the Masked Ghost voice could have been slightly lower pitched, since it was really annoying.

You know, it's not all that far-fetched that the remaining two triggers would be where they needed to be there. All it would take would be for the four triggers in the deck to be put in close together and not be properly separated during the shuffle. It's not like pile-shuffling appears to be a common practice in this anime world.
