Hey Andrew thanks for this video. It's strange that Kia doesn't communicate this upfront. What's also strange is that wireless Android auto only comes in the lower trims and not the higher ones!? I've never seen that happen before. Can it be still done after market or through software update on the SX Prestige?

There has to be some kind of technical disagreement or something because of the NAV system. Unfortunately, I've had no direct answer whatsoever. There was a rumour of an update, then it disappeared.. Thanks for watching! - Andrew

Hi Andrew, I really enjoy your short videos about the new Sportage. I own the version with the big screens which does not offer wireless CarPlay. There are rumours that KIA will enable it with a software update. My question: Have you heard anything about this? Because it really takes down this otherwise awesome car a notch for me. KIA should communicate better ;-)

There were rumours early on that it would be updated. Last I heard is that there is no update coming at all. If any of that changes, I'll touch base on it with everyone. Thanks for watching! - Andrew

Hi Andrew, how do you setup Android Auto and wireless charging on the 12.1" display on the EX Hybrid or the SX Prestige Hybrid?

All of the Sportage HEVs are equipped with the 12.3" infotainment screen, so they will need to be wired to set up Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. The wireless charging should work the same way as the ICE Sportage, but the HEV has the benefit of closing the little storage area where the wireless charging pad is. Thanks for watching! - Andrew

It's alittle annoying that the 12.1 is a higher spec of car but appears not to have been given this feature

Does using Android auto from your car use your data.....like say I'm using Google maps is it taking data from my phone

I'm on a 2022 Sportage. It has the wireless feature with the phone projection and all. The cars blue tooth has detected my Pixel 6 and contacts, but the Android Auto icon in the display screen stays grayed out. Any hints as to why? I've even connected to the car with USB cord, but no change.

Here in Canada, a 2022 Sportage would not have any wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. In the new 2023 Sportage, only the 8" screen has the wireless capability for those, and for the 12.3" screen it would have to be wired. As for plugging it in and it not being detected...trial and error would say to try a different USB cable, make sure your phone is updated to the latest firmware, and maybe even doing a hard reset on the infotainment screen. @@CardinalKia activating this option, on 2021 model, its done from a hidden menu, accesed by a combination of buttons/touches, not standard menu

@Mustaciosul I have never seen a hidden menu for such a thing. And in any 2017 to 2022 Sportage, they never offered wireless on any trim level. At least here in Canada. - Andrew
