What I was indicating was that I'm not a fan of either of these teams, meaning that what usually happens in their games isn't of significance to me (unless it pertains to a fantasy league, or playoff implications), but I was distinguishing this particular moment, in all of it's glory, and stating that it was, in fact, BIGGER than the two teams, and it represented something greater for the fans in attendance, the players on the field, and people all around the country who love the game. For anyone who didn't understand that, all I can say is maybe, just maybe, your IQ isn't high enough for the internet, and 'comment sections' specifically. In the future I'll try to remember what country I'm in, what year it is, and the quality of intellect I'm likely dealing with.

Just thinking the same thing. I'm a Reds fan and it seemed like every freaking time you turned around Albert was getting another big hit and having another MONSTER season. He was incredible with the Cards. I will say this for St. Louis. They gave the blueprint on how to handle those situations. The sentimental thought was give Albert whatever he wants, for as long as he wants. They said no... and they were wise. That contract would've been an anchor as he aged. They made the right decision and have had the resources to continue and thrive as a franchise. The Reds gave Votto the contract and it's beginning to handicap them and will continue to hurt them several more years. I love Votto... but I didn't like his contract. Even back then. Kudos to the Cardinals for making a wise decision.

Insane to think that he's played so long that half of his career has been in the decline phase. My favorite Pujols stat from his first 10 years is that he and Ichiro began their MLB careers together, and Pujols had the exact same batting average as Ichiro in those 10 years, but had nearly as many HRs as Ichiro had XBHs, and Pujols even managed to strike out less.

Gawd I love baseball. Everything about this moment screams baseball. He walks up to the umpire they exchange a brief complimentary exchange. He pats the umpire on the back. The catcher walks towards the mound to toss the ball to the pitcher. The umpire takes his mask off a second time to brush the plate in order to allow the batter to soak in the ovation. The catcher is standing off to the side as the plate is being brushed. “Soak it in champ.” After a beautiful bro hug, everyone’s set. Time to get back to work. Play ball. Beautiful.

I've been lucky enough to see over 20 mlb parks including a-lot of the more famous ones, i.e. yankee stadium, Wrigley field, fenway park, etc. I grew up in the Midwest so saw all the Midwest parks. I've lived on the west coast for several years now and have a seen a few out here, too. I'll never forget old busch stadium in St. Louis. That crowd felt more like a college football crowd than a baseball crowd.

As a braves fan, the respect and admiration I have for Pujols is great. Class act. So glad he’s gonna put back on that cardinal uniform one more time.

As a braves fan I agree. Was reading an AJC article just a sec ago where freddie was saying it's not goodbye forever. Can't wait for the day we get to have our reunion.

I was at that game when Albert Pujols returned back home. The crowd was electric when he hit a HR and when they gave him a standing ovation for what he's done in STL. It was a moment and experience I would never forget as an Angel fan seeing my team on the road live!

I was there as well; Section 371, Row 8, Seat 3. Although, I moved down to an empty seat in the front row of the section to video the moment.
