Cardinals fan here. I think time heals all wounds. Harper's return was so soon that the hurt caused by his departure was still very fresh. Believe me, when Pujols left, Cardinals fans were PISSED at first. Had Pujols's return been as soon as Harper's return to DC, then Pujols would have been massively booed. But after several years, seeing how his career went on, and realizing the crippling effect that keeping him would have had on our team, we forgave him. Then when he finally returned, everyone was at peace.

My favorite story to tout about Cards Nation about my friend who's from Houston. Back in '04 he was in school at WashU, and having come from Houston, he was a helluvan Astros fan. Stros and Cards were still same division at this time, so the Stros came to Busch on WashU's night at the ballpark, and my friend got fully decked out in Astros gear ready to be the most obnoxious Stros fan ever, fully expecting the usual hate and vitriol from the hometown crowd in response to any opposing player or fan... However, at that game, one of the Stros players managed to dive over the side wall to catch a foul pop fly, and to my friend's utter astonishment, the Cards fans at Busch gave the Stros player a standing O just because it was such a good play and top notch effort. That was the day my buddy became a Cards fan...

When you're a Cardinal, you're always a Cardinal. It doesn't matter if you go somewhere else, you're still a Cardinal.

I'm a Cards fan, but, Cubs fans really embrace their team as well. Maybe not for fellow fans like Bartman though. I've never seen that much beer thrown at a fan in my life, lol!!

All those years Berkman killed them on the Astros and to still get one. Much respect to them

Might as well cheer that he is not gonna be killing us anymore lol. If say it worked out. There was no reason to hare those Astro squads back then.

I can't wait to hear the reception at Busch when Yadi and Waino go out there for the last time.
