The ump system is laughable. When a professional player (even a superstar) can no longer cut it and his stats dip below a certain level, he is done playing, either through retirement or no team signing him. We don’t have 60 year old players in the league. Yet umps well into their 50s and 60s who’s accuracy is inferior to younger umps can’t be released due to performance. It’s a joke.

Well, I caught from little league to college, I umpired for around 25 plus years from little league to college softball. What I learned is: those who can, do. Those who can’t, coach and those who can’t coach, officiate!
