My takeaway after watching the interview I would say between the DeWitts and Mozeliak I’ve never seen anyone in the public arena more arrogant and defiant toward their public. These guys have a crude awakening when they don’t sell nearly the tickets next year that they did this year. I won’t be paying for a streaming service to watch the Cardinals owned by the DeWitts. I don’t want to put one penny in their pocket.

Hey Charlie, Great thoughts. You said they’re finally taking the steps to fix this. But isn’t the first step to admit the mistakes? Mo didn’t seem to want any part of that.

So like I’ve said in other comments 2025 will be about playing the kids.. Shedding payroll for farm hands that Bloom wants.. basically a soft rebuild year and a top 10 draft pick… and in 2026 once they’ve retooled played the kids redeveloped the farm and entire staff Cardinals will maybe spend a bit on 2-3 free agents to bolster the roster and try and compete… but if Bloom doesn’t hire a legit manager in 2026 all this will be for nothing… so basically again save your money don’t go to Busch in 2025 and wait it out till “the change” happens…

" Perhaps to your shagren your stuck with me another year or you can think your blessed?" John Mosailok.......But that wasn't when I turned off the television. Nope. It was when DeWitt III stated fans can pay for a app to watch games is when my Remote went "Click." I've never done arrogant people in my 62 years on this earth.....And I'm not going to start now. It took Albert Pujols to bring me back to Baseball after 2020 and West Cost FLATery and ONeal prancing around the field in their little statement shirts. It took Big Mack and Sammy to bring me back after the strike in 98". I'll be back when Mosailok and Marmol are gone because this just reminded me of the "Be Patient " line. Well John Boy......This fans Patients just ran out. Box scores don't cost me a dime or doesn't donate to another DeWitt family slush fund. 🇺🇸

What really tells me they're gaslighting is when Mr DeWitt Jr. Sits there and touts kids coming up and "Doing well?" Really? You have a kid in Gorman that's in the minors now that hit 27 dingers last season that looks as lost as a player can look in the Majors, and another in Right field that will never be good defensively there that can't lay off a outside pitch!

I would be very careful about the optimism over Chaim Bloom and a rebuild. The best teams in MLB in playoffs - Yankees, Phillies, Padres, Dodgers, Astros, & Mets are mostly built via trades & FA's. The Oriloes, Brewers, & Cleveland are home grown. But the 2024 WS faves weren't built waiting for the kids/prospects to devolpe.

@@drewkre The Astros built their entire run on home grown talent. Altuve. Bregman, Tucker, Alvarez, Pena, Javier, Valdez, Urquidy….These are home grown guys…. Dodgers had a number of years with a majority of their talent from drafted talent. Same with San Diego. What those teams did and continue to do well was blend their developed talent with trades that supplement it ….They also happen to be well ran from top to bottom.

Charlie, you are one of the best, hold your own with Bernie and Randy in the St. Louis sports landscape! Chaim Bloom should take control immediately, It would be his decision whether the team pursues Skip Schumaker to be his manager. If Oli was available, not many teams would be calling him compared to Skip! Elite managerial talent to maximize a lower payroll roster.

The only good thing to come out of this press conference is the fact that Chaim Bloom's day is near. I would love to see Marmol manage a year without Mozeliak lurking in his box. I believe he can do great things for this franchise without Mozeliak controlling him. Case in point: Mike Schildt. Hang in there, Cardinal Nation! Better days are ahead.

Honestly I'm not too mad about the idea of just letting the young guys play and getting rid of the old guys. To put it in medical terms, I'd rather get put on Bedrest for a time and work to a full recovery than keep limping along like we are only to never truly be healthy. What we're doing clearly isn't working and going out and buying 2-3 REALLY expensive Free Agents isn't going to fix it (nor would the organization do that) and buying a bunch of mid-level guys wouldn't make a difference either. So we just need to rip off the band aid and start over. I'll just go into the season with low expectations and just enjoy what we get. I hope there is a streaming service, I'll still be there to support our young guys and eagerly watch them try to develop. The team, really, won't be all that much worse in terms of offense even if we do get rid of Arenado, Goldy is gone already, and maybe even Contreras. We've got guys to replace them. The problem would probably be Starter Depth and the bullpen. Finding innings. Pitching staff just may be weak. Or maybe we keep Gibby and Lynn to bridge the gap. Wouldn't hate it. They weren't all that expensive and could be good leaders for all the young pitchers. If Arenado leaves we put Gorman or Donny at 3rd. Burleson can play First (or maybe we try Walker there). Pages and Herrera take turns behind the plate. The outfield has plenty of options. See what we've got and then in 2-3 years hopefully we can spend on a few Free Agents wherever we determine the gaps are.

Regarding the idea of Skip coming back, this is why I'm sort of okay with Marmol coming back for one more year. If I'm skip or Yadi, I wouldn't want to tarnish my legacy with a poorly constructed roster. It's a selfish thought, but until this organization gets the ball rolling in the right direction, I don't see why we should reward them. Hence why, if I'm Skip or Yadi, I'd wait until 2027 (or later) before taking the job.

John Mozeliak was very good for this franchise. Key word…..WAS. His best years of leading are well behind him and he’s allowed the franchise to fall WAY behind the 8 ball and it’s going to take some years to undo the damage done…..and in what’s become typical Cardinals fashion headscratching decision making….Why is Chaim Bloom’s ascension being delayed another year? What is the purpose of allowing John Mozeliak to oversee things 1 more year? To allow Bloom more time to evaluate?? What’s he spent the last year doing?? The team is shedding payroll. Why not allow Chaim Bloom to make those decisions? Is this an unwillingness in Mozeliak to let go or just stubbornness to relent control not under his own terms? There’s not a reason that could be given from any of the brass that can justify John Mozeliak being allowed another year……Honestly, it’s par for the course. If the announcement came that it’s Chaim Bloom’s show….More people are excited. This just makes zero friggin sense.

These are a couple of questions I have: How much have the owners of the Cards made? Have they spent what they should have on the team? How bad do these owners really want to win! Mr. Bush realized he needed to make serious changes in 1980. It had been 12 years since they had been in the WS. They had some really good clubs especially the 71 club! We have had a great run from LaRussa days to 2022.

Have not watched but after the 25 season is not enough for me. I guess maybe I will pick up being a Cardinals fan after the 25 season. I will not watch another game that is the cause of Mo at the front office and Oli as the manager. Won't spend a dime won't give them any ad dollars by watching on TV. //Edits after started watching. Mo has no business being a part of the change that is happening! You hit the nail on the head he is a part of the problem so he sure as shit can't be a part of the solution! I see Nado gone Gray gone will be stuck with Miles and that one pitcher that never pitch's Matz... They won't get rid of Mo because they WONT admit that he is part of the problem. This is just a change of hands from one GM to another not getting rid of one that's a problem... Ugh realization of them probably signing Carp to a cheap contract has hit me cause they want to keep pay roll low...

Hmmmm... This is all pretty much the news I expected to come from this. Am I happy about all of it? No. Does all of it make me mad? Also, no. I knew Mo and Oli would be back. There was a better chance of a snowball's chance in hell that they would be gone. For me, the biggest take away is that it seems we are FINALLY accpeting that we need to rebuild. If we can get more staff, and preferably some upgrades to the ones we currently have, to help curate the young talent, then we could get on track sooner then expected. My biggest concern with Chaim Bloom is the way he seems to view budget. With the Rays, it made sense. Boston wanted to shed salary, so Bloom was called in but fans weren't super happy with what he did there while it was happening. If he moves Arenado, it will remind me of Betts in Boston. So, I'll reserve judgment on him until he's gotten a season or two under his belt. I am happy that Mo will not be extended after 2025, but I'm also going to keep my excitement down a little. All in all, my take away from this is, "We (DeWitt and Mo) recognize that this season did not go according to plan, so we think saving money is best until we can curate a team that looks like a real contender." I can only hope that when we do reach that point, we don't squander it like we did in 2022. I'm still bitter that we had the talent that year, yet Yadi, Pujols, and Waino barely got a sniff of the playoffs in that final hurrah, all because the FO thought we were good enough.

Bader for Montgomery clearly was a great move. .. the passing of Oscar Taveras would be 32 years old now ..Alex Reyes Injuries.. what kind of stats they would have being the top picks in baseball we might be having a different convo today..now recently the hitting avg. have dropped across the league with the cards near the bottom and risp.. sure I'm very dissatisfied with the results lately.. so with this change with different minds and thoughts overall we will hope for the best. These young pitchers look very promising I must say! This should keep us in many games and if the hitting improves I could see +90 win seasons to come soon.🏆⚾️

For us it frees up $37M, rids us of continued frustration and opens up 3rd for a kid. We get Crochet in return. Immediately becomes our best pitcher. The DeWitts could have prevented this years ago but because Mozeliak has made them more rich than Scrooge McDuck swimming in money, they refused to do anything about it and still do. This used to be a team that cared about the product they put on the field and actually cared about the fans. Since Mozeliak has taken over, that all changed. The arrogance has permeated throughout the entire organization and has gotten worse during his tenure. He refuses to be held accountable for anything and won’t field the tough questions without getting offended about it. DeWitt Jr.’s showing yesterday was absolutely embarrassing and BD3 wasn’t far behind.

My take Fans will be paying major league ticket prices for a minor league team year in and year out. Oh, and you will be required to pay to watch our games on TV. 12th in payroll last year. Moving forward, look for the Cardinals to be around 25th to 30th out of 32 Major League franchises in player payroll, disgusting.

Not a change at all, it's just another cheap huckster leading the front office to get payroll as low as it can go. Nice shiny new facilities doesn't win ball games. Cheap talent doesn't win ball games. Looks like Cardinals fans will have to stay away from the ball park for another 2-3 years, at least!! I've been a Cardinals fan since 1964, but I may not even watch a youtube highlight of the team in 2025, or before 2028 if Bloom is still there then. It won't be worth my time.

What a joke. At least we have fair warning that 2025 will be an absolute disaster. I won't be spending a dime or any time on Cardinals baseball.

Chaim Bloom = low budget, not signing any superstars, and when the home grown stars are due for a big contract, trade them. Not a fan
