Theory and movement look simple enough. Now it's only practice, getting used to it, try different positions in my hand, adjust the pressure, analyse it and start again until I got it down. One big thing that breaks it often for me: The smoothness of the cards. A newer deck will be much easier to handle for this than a used / old deck because. My deck is only a week old but I can already see that it isn't as smooth as an unused deck anymore.

Personally I have found the key for me to be applying more pressure with the hand that is fanning the cards. so if you're holding them in your left hand apply more pressure than you'd think with your right hand when you fan them

and to be clear my hands are small. about 6 inches from my wrist to the tip of my middle finger

@@thatweirdone2819 I don't agree. I am practicing myself. Sometimes i am getting it right and card spreads fully. Also, i have seen other cardistry video where the "magician" take out new full deck from box and spreads out fan evenly. It is just matter of pracicing it and mastering it to get it right.

Just for fyi , it took me almost a year to get this move down.just keep practicing people!it will come eventually. Muscle memory..that's all it is but it will take time.

So, what do you do with your left hand? You just show us how to do it perfectly, but some of us are stuck. You don't say how hard to hold the cards with your left hand. Is the pressure only in the middle or the whole thumb? Do you vary the pressure as you do it? Do you have to do it at a certain angle to get it to fall right? What if we are having problems, how do we fix it? Very frustrating, no one speaks about the left hand and its roll. Does it not matter? Can you put any pressure?

Try to keep the fingers of the hand that holds the deck straight. If I curl my fingers on the hand I hold the deck I block the fan.

Bottom right end of the deck hits my hand and I can't get a full circle. What's the remedy?

This was happening to me for the longest time, and I finally figured it out. Focus on pushing your right thumb up as well as to the side. Practice holding it in the original position he showed, but don't tilt it to the left, just straight up and down. Put your right thumb lower down on the left side of the deck, then when you push to the right, also push up. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.
