@@BushPrep I can’t say for that person but I am upgrading to a cardo packtalk bold from a sena and my main reason is that the sena 50s sometimes has issues with voice commands and even sometimes all of a sudden switches to radio with no input on the device. As well as I’m on my 2nd set of speakers from sena in a year period both sets have failed and there’s no support for it.

I've had the packtalk bold duo for a few weeks now .I got it because my wife and I ride an extremely loud Harley and we couldn't hear each other talk even screaming in each others ears while stopped at the lights. With the cardos we can carry on a normal conversation and hear each other quite clearly at the lights or screaming down the freeway . Thanks Cardo our rides are so much more fun now.

@@WynZillA make sure your speakers are in the right position. I also use a modular helmet. I run my mic on the low to keep wind noise down and volume on high setting then you can adjust your volume on your pack itself.

Hei Cardo! I have one question please... Got 2 Boxes of cardo duo PacTalk Bold.. one for my BMW GS one for my friends XR1000. We both can pair the group of for riders (me and him and relative wife) but when we talk eachother via phone (i mean a simple phone call not intercom that works great), we are having some very bad underground noise and bad communication. All the tests we made: 1) Using the Cardo connected only to the Mobile phone: Phone calls are great. Music too - Cannot be controlled by the BMW menu. Phone calls are clear and no bkgd noise. 2) Connecting Phone on bluetooth channel1 and BMW on bluetooth channel 2 - phone also connected to BMW bluetooth: Can use BMW menu for music, phone and apps. Phone calls audio quality very bad. 3) Same as 2 but Cardo connected to BMW, phone connected to BMW, BUT phone disconected from Cardo. Phone calls better but still not as perfect as in case 1. So the question: Nowhere I found instructions on how to proceed if you have to connect a Bike to cardo. BMW handles 2 helmets and the phone and then re-transmit to Cardo (i assumed from tests made). Could somebody be so nice to tell us how to proceed in this case, which channel to use with what, and what has to be connected in the final scenario and what can be disconnected? Thanks a lot ! Keky

Wow, that was the most informative and detailed video I have seen on how to operate the new Cardo Packtalk Bold and saving it for reference. Very well done indeed and thank you. We are looking at purchasing the Packtalk Bold DUO, as we just sold our 30K duals. We have heard really good things about the PackTalk BOLD. Hopefully we will find a good deal and when we get them they will be as good as all of the reviews I have read online and then I will try and get my groups to change their Sena comms to Cardo too.

Regarding the wires, in most helmets, you can remove the cheek pads for the installation, and then reinstall them. I bought palktalk bold duo about 9 months ago, but have never been able to get full volume music on the second unit . I originally thought it was because I was sharing music , so I did a compete factory reset and update .This did not improve the situation. I have checked an adjusted volumes on both phones settings and cardo app. When I ride solo not an issue , but disappointed that my wife cannot listen to her spotify at the same level that I enjoy. Any advice would be welcome.

I can't get the Packtalk Bold to speed dial by voice command. The Apple app has places to enter four phone numbers. Is the starred number in the app the speed dial number? Or does it get entered somewhere else?

A four button interface on such a complex device results in nonintuitive button combinations. This good video helped me create a laminated cheat sheet for the functions I'll use. There's no way I'll remember how to connect non-PackTalk devices a month from now, and anything I carry needs to be durable and waterproof. I wish the quick start guide was organized by task. Bold heading describing what the user wants to do. Example: "Power ON", then describe what button(s) to press and for how long, with a third column describing the blinky light status and any voice confirmations provided by the intercom. The quick guide lists a few of the voice commands that the intercom understands. I'd like to see the complete list. My PackTalk Bold understands me better if I speak softly so there's probably distortion at my normal speaking level.

I didn't think to look in the Settings on the Cardo Connect app to find the list of voice commands and the online version of the Pocket Guide. I'm not sure, but the online version of the Pocket Guide seems more intuitive than the printed version. It's good enough that I don't need to make the laminated card based on the notes I made while watching this video. The voice commands are a good idea but speaker independent voice recognition is a tough problem. For me, on the PackTalk Bold, it's inconsistent enough that I prefer the buttons, even though the buttons require me to remember which random button to press for each situation. I'm also noticing many flaky behaviors with the app controlling the intercom over Bluetooth, but I haven't been able to upgrade the intercom firmware because I don't have a Windows or Mac computer, so maybe that's what's causing the problems. It would be great if I could ship the intercom to Cardo with a $5 bill to pay return shipping and you guys would upgrade the firmware for me. I'm impressed with the sound quality and the ability to answer phone calls while riding. The caller was very intelligible when riding at 50 MPH with a full face helmet, and he reported only minimal wind noise on his end. Nicely done! I almost never ride with anyone so most of my motivation/justification for buying the intercom was to get voice navigation instructions from my cell phone or GPS. The Android cell phone running OSMand+ worked very well with the intercom system. That integration honestly couldn't be better so far. The only issue was the routing preferences of the OSMand+ app. Even with me setting routing preferences, it seems determined to route me along the least scenic routes. I'm still working on that. Even though I don't like listening to music while I ride, I'm tempted to put some MP3s on my phone and give it a try.

Can you recheck the installation and confirm that the mic is directed to your mouth? Can you check the language settings in the Cardo Connect app (English UK/English US)? Please note that the voice commands must be pronounced exactly as they appear in the Pocket guide and might take some practice at first. I just got mine in the mail a week ago unfortunately they wouldn’t work in my Gmax MD-01 but I decided to “install” speaker pockets. Also one downside first time I tried to ride with it on my helmet I walked outside and it wasn’t even 2 minutes in 83F that the adhesive just gave up the Cardo fell off my helmet and so did the mic I followed the instructions to put it on to the letter but 3M is just trash I just bought some trim brite trim adhesive and no more problems.

I have a Neotech 1 and a Shoei J Cruise. When installing both helmets have a felt like cloth over the ear pockets that I had stuck my Sena speakers on. Can I do the same with the Cardo or should I remove and use the velcro stickers?

Hi, Usually, in Shoei, you have cavities designed for speakers, but if you find a way that is more comfortable for you and that you hear the speakers the way they position, then perfect.

At the 14:00 mark after connecting to a Sena you can't go back to DMC mode unless you press the intercom button to disconnect from the Sena. Then go to DMC, then press the intercom button again to bring it all home.

@@luksan1585 Your music volume drops because another connected person's mic is picking up sound, either voice or outside noise. If using a hybrid mic, it has a yellow arrow that should be facing the mouth. Anybody using a half helmet should get the half helmet kit with a boom mic instead. It will pretty much eliminate outside noise triggering the mic that results in your music volume being dropped.

I have a really shitty Bell helmet with terrible wind noise at pretty much any speed so I use earplugs which means my Cardo system is full volume and the sound quality doesnt really come through properly with the earplugs. Nice video but you guys need to put out some more information regarding setups like cardophonegpscardo. Most GPS units today require a phone pairing, for data transfer and they also have call and media streaming functions, just like the Cardo, so if you pair them like I said above, the GPS and the Cardo will "fight" for media/phone audio and this leads to some features not working correctly, not working at all or to very unstable pairings that keep disconnecting. Example: if my GPS "gets" the phone audio connection than the Cardo won't so I can't use the remote control app, it doesn't see the Cardo. As soon as I prevent my GPS from receiving the phone audio connection, the cardo gets it and then everything is smooth sailing. Now, I am not saying these are bugs, I have a vague feeling that these are related to how the BT protocol works but still, ppl should know about them so they can have a smooth experience

Hi Larry, Unfortunately there is no good way to pair Cardo with both BMW TFT and Garmin same time :( Best that worked for me and some others: pair phone to both TFT and Garmin (so you can use SmartLink and Connected apps, then choose what you like to use as only device for calls and music, I prefer TFT as its easier (for me) to navigate contacts and music content by use of “wonder wheel” on the go, if you decide to go that direction then pair your Cardo to TFT, if you need to have navigation announcements then use Garmin, do not attempt to pair to both and do not connect Cardo directly to your phone as then all will fail to work. Additionally: by this setup you will lose some button functions on your Cardo like: play/stop/next and some more probably, VOL and intercom will work fine, Im still awaiting reply from Cardo, sent weeks ago about issue with music share to passenger, but probably will never get any :( So we users are left on our own and looks like Cardo replies only on “positive” comments Take care, stay safe

I just purchased these for my wife and I, we each ride our own bikes. After 4 days of riding we are disappointed. A bunch of static, to the point I have had to power off a few times. DMC mode between us is off limits, static so bad just sitting in the parking lot. So we are running in Bluetooth mode, as long as we are not moving the static is minimal, and we can hear each other. I will say that when there isn’t static I love that I can hear her and she can hear me without yelling into our mics. Any suggestions on how to fix the static issue?

In bluetooth connecting, just wondering why we press phone button (Red/Blue light) after we have opened the channel with the pairing button (Red 1 or 2 seconds) after already being connected (Red 5 seonds). I would love a priority pairing or auto memory connection at some stage.

I have a cardo pactalk paired with my I phone 12. When I get an incoming call the phone itself rings but I cannot hear it ring through the pactalk. I press the button on the pactalk and can speak and hear the other person fine it’s just when somebody rings you don’t always know they have rung because no ring tone through the unit. Also saying answer and ignore does not work I have to press the button on the unit. Any ideas please

I just ordered the PackTalk Bold KIT from Amazon ... I own a BMW R1250GS Adv 2021 with Tft monitor. Will the voice call and Hey Siri and OK Google work if I connect PB to the TFT so I can answer from the bike Joystick? I read an answer that you had already given that you will lose the voice functions cardo but you can use the joystick .... with the updates have you solved the problem? Does Siri and Google not work or does not any voice command given to Cardo work such as turn off the radio or turn the volume down / up?

Hi Mauro, When connecting to a TFT, the TFT becomes the brain, and you lose some of the voice commands that use the phone. We are currently working to make it easier. Cardo team

How can you set up a "Spoken Status Announcements Volume Level."? Default level is very low as you can't hear announcements past 100 km/h with or w/o air plugs :( There was an "undocumented feature" with Cardo Scala Rider Q1 - Q3 (press the “IC” and “MM” buttons simultaneously for about five seconds), but I can't find anything regarding PACKTALK BOLD...

Packtalk volume levels are controlled individually - each for every function. For example, while playing music the volume change will only apply to music and will be automatically stored in the system memory when you come back to play music next time. Same goes for announcements. while not in music/radio/phone call modes the volume control will only change system announcements. We're working on a separate video tutorial to go over these in more length.

Great tutorial. I have a Cardo SHO-1 on my XR1100 but looking to buy a Mesh unit for my Shoei NXR and this looks to fit the bill perfectly. I do have a question that seems to remain unanswered......when a call comes in and is answered how do I keep the Samsung S10+ screen from coming on..? Ideally I would like the 'ok Google' commands to function with the screen locked as I have encountered problems with the phone in my pocket calling random people which is obviously a problem.

If you're experiencing problems with the voice commands, please check the following: Can you adjust the microphone sensitivity slider in the Cardo Connect app?
