Thanks for the trick. The only way cardo connects to senna is when you put senna in universal pairing and put cardo in phone pairing mode. Mine is older cardo freaking scala g4 powerset. I’ve done a lot of experimenting with cross pairing brands. I’ve concluded that Bluetooth it’s just a crappy technology and produces static every time it’s used. I do not recommend cross pairing brands only mesh between the same brands. What’s further hindering is a phone connection pairing is only meant to go between the phone and the headset which is usually around 2 feet away from each other. Now you’ve taken that headset and put it on another rider a quarter-mile away and for sure is going to get static and drop out. When you introduce a Bluetooth headset into a clean connection mesh system, you cause static for everybody. Not cool. Cross pairing is a waste of time just get the same brand units and mash them together

Very well said. It's crappy idea to connect with other brand. Big waste of time. For sure, this guy doesn't even experience what he is saying. It only tells us things about connecting to other brand but doesn't really experience it himself.

Thanks for the explanation. All the manuals make it seem like you put both devices into universal pairing, nowhere does it mention that one has to connect like it would a phone... I have a sena and my friend has a cardo, we struggled to figured it out but this video solved it. One thing though I noticed is that it only works when the sena goes into universal pairing mode and the cardo until is connected via phone pairing, they will connect if the cardo does universal pairing and the sena connects via phone mode but neither of us can hear or talk to each other. Just have to make sure the sena is the one in universal pairing. Now to try and see if I can add my other friend with a senna to the group at the same time... Manual says you can but it is not very clear.

"regulation" is not necessary. Almost all electronics use USB system. Not because of any regulation, but because of the flexibility of the technology and from consumer demand. Regulation is an intellectually lazy option that usually freezes technology on a device that no one eventually wants.

@MotoGeekFreak4 жыл бұрын
1. Right on, thank you! 2. Theoretically, and if neither of you have paired to someone/something else that would have taken that same "pairing slot', then you would already be paired and set to go next time you see each other. However, because Universal Pairing from any brand will rob the mobile phone pairing slot of one of the headsets, most people will end up pairing their Actual mobile phone back to their headset after the ride, in which case blowing out the pairing to you and you'll have to use this same pairing process next time you meetup. Hope that makes sense.

Hi. If the Sena headset supports the Audio Multitasking or Audio Overlay feature then that will allow someone to be talking over the intercom with a non-Sena headset and listen to music at the same time.
@vincentcaballes50503 жыл бұрын
Hi sir. In my understanding, if you have 5 cardo and 5 other non cardo, they can still talk simultaneously together to each other, right? For this to work, we need each of the cardo to connect to each of non cardo via BT mode, bring those non cardo into the table and simultaneous talking will be obtained. Is that correct? We came from Cardo but sold it to buy a cheaper intercom. Our other friends still use cardo and we wanted to know if we can still talk simultaneously even if we use a non cardo device.

AWESOME Video!!! I wish we would have watched it first before banging our heads against the wall trying to figure it out. I have (2) questions, My Cardo (Universal intercom pairing mode) is paired to a Sena(Phone pairing mode) as explained in your video. But (1) the Sena can't use it's intercom feature. It can only call me just like they would call for a pizza. Is that right? Hence the "Phone pairing mode". And (2) Even though we are connected. When my Cardo intercom connects to talk to the Sena, the call drops within seconds of the connect. Can this be fixed?
@MotoGeekFreak3 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! (1) That's correct. When paired as you described, the Sena "thinks" it's paired to an actual phone, hence they would have to tap the mobile button in the back to start/end intercom with you. If it was paired the opposite way - Sena (universal pairing mode) to Cardo (mobile phone pairing mode) - then it would be the other way around, the Sena would use the Intercom wheel to activate/deactivate intercom, and the Cardo would have to tap the Mobile button to start/end an intercom session. (2) I've had this happen as well. Try doing a master reset on the Sena and attempt again. No idea why, but most of the time that works out the issue. Hope that all makes sense and helps out a bit!

As far as I understood, if you have 2 senas and 1 pack talk it goes like this. The 2 senas connect via normal intercom and then, one of the senas additionally activates universal intercom and you have to activate your "mobile phone connection" and slide into the mobile phone slot of the sena. I don't know if you're able to use your phone in that configuration, haven't tested it yet.

@MotoGeekFreak3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Since the packtalk slim and freecom 1+ are both Cardo headsets, you don't want to be using "cardo gateway" pairing mode (that's only for when pairing to a NON-cardo headset). SO, on both units, press and hold the "Intercom" button until you see the LED start flashing red. This will put both of them in the correct pairing mode. Once the LED goes solid red, then returns to a normal/slow blue flash, the units are paired together for intercom. Good luck and hope that helps!

My Cordo Freecom 2+ connected to the Sena 20S via phone bluetooth connection as you described. If I push the intercom button on the Freecom 2+ it opens a intercom connection with the Sena. BUT how do you initiate an intercom call from the Sena ? Pushing the phone button or the intercom button does nothing.
@MotoGeekFreak4 жыл бұрын
Ok cool, if you've got the two of them connected and talking that means you paired them up right (good job). In your case, to open up the intercom from the Sena you must use the phone button (don't even bother with the sena's intercom button, won't happen)...BUT, as you said, that's not working. I hate to say this but do a Master Reset on the Sena 20s, pair them up again the exact same way you did the first time, and that should fix it (you should then be able to initiate the intercom from the sena as well by pushing the sena's phone button once). Hope that helps!

Hey! Good question and YES you should be able to hear/talk to all of them. The sena should absolutely be able to do that. You'll only be directly paired to one of them (using the method above) but it will basically bring you into their exiting conversation. Keep in mind, if some of them start switching to Packtalk, that will change everything. Then you would have the Packtalks grouped together in Mesh (way better than Bluetooth for group comms) and bring the remaining Senas into the coversation. Hope that helps and good luck!

I have a PackTalk and all my friends have Sena. I know how to pair them (I'm usually the one in Universal Pairing Mode because around these parts Sena users don't know how to operate their device, and I know how to set a Sena to phone pairing mode). The problem is, once paired, the mic stays hot like you are in a phone call, and doesn't drop unless I disconnect the "call". But then I have to push the button again to open the channel again. No too handy. This hot mic issue may be caused by wind noise or engine noise causing the sena mic to vox open, I'm not sure. Do you have any idea what the problem is and if it's fixable?

Is it possible to pair a Bluetooth-only Device like the Cardo Freecom 4 to another Cardo and a device of another brand at the same time and have a 3-way-communication? Everytime a try that arrangement, I can only talk to one of the two other Devices at the same time.
@MotoGeekFreak3 жыл бұрын
Yes you should be able to do that and have all 3 talk at the same time. Here's the way it should look: Cardo-to-Non-Cardo - Put the Cardo into Cardo Gateway/Universal Intercom pairing mode. Put the non-Cardo into Mobile Phone pairing mode. Once they pair, put the non-Cardo aside. It will be a single tab on the Cardo's Intercom button to open/close the intercom with this unit THEN Cardo-to-Cardo - Pair the two Cardo's together on their "Rider B Pairing" channel. It will be a double tap on the Cardo's Intercom button to open/close the intercom here. SO, to get them all talking, take the one Cardo that's paired to both the non-Cardo and the other Cardo. A single tap of the intercom button should open comms with the non-Cardo, then do a double tap on that same Intercom button to open comms with the other Cardo. At this point all 3 should be open and talking. Sorry for the novel and hope that helps!

You should be able to pair the 2 Sena units together using “normal” Intercom, then use one of the Sena unit’s Universal Intercom pairing to pair with the Packtalk’s mobile pairing. Since there is 2 Sena and 1 Cardo in your scenario, it has to be the Sena that uses Universal Intercom Pairing. If it was the opposite, then it would be the Cardo to use Universal Intercom pairing. Hope that helps!

In this arrangement, you can initiate the intercom by pressing the "Mobile" button on your packtalk. Normally you use this button to pull up Siri or Google on your phone, but because the Sena is "hacking" into this port for the cross-brand pairing, when you click this button, it will (should) open the intercom session. Hope that makes sense and helps out!

Ok so if four of my friends have Sena 20s I'll be able to join them with my cardo bold as long as one of them pairs with me through universal mode?
@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's correct. If one of them goes to "Universal Pairing Mode", then you would HAVE to go to "Mobile Phone Pairing Mode" (because that's how universal pairings work) and that'll work. All 5 of you should be able to talk once the intercoms are opened up.

HI MototGeek, Thanks for all the valuable information, it is great!!! Quick question when pairing with my friend who rides with the GT-Air II specific SRL 2 Bluetooth Communication System by Sena We pair great, but if we are just maybe 500 feet it's start to disconnect, is there a way to get that miles going or not really!? Thanks again!
@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
@Hugo Hamaoui Thanks!! Unfortunately, anytime you're pairing one brand to a different brand, the intercom range REALLY takes a hit. The only real way to solve the range-issue when dealing with different brands is to call each other through your phones...but then of course you need to be within service range. Sorry to not be more helpful but hope it helps!

Ís it possible to connect a 2 Way radio with bluetooth connection and use Radio as an extended network
@MotoGeekFreak Жыл бұрын
Yes I believe so! If the 2-way radio has Bluetooth I don’t see why not, would love to know how it works out if you give it a try 👍

If the Cardo is connected to the other brand system using universal intercom mode, I think it can still connect to his own mobile phone to listen to the music, right? But the one which is connected to this cardo system is by mobile phone pairing, can it still connect to his mobile phone?
@MotoGeekFreak2 жыл бұрын
That is correct. And the one that is paired to the Cardo using it’s (the other headset) mobile phone pairing slot will likely not be able to pair to their actual phone. If that other headset can handle 2 mobile phone pairings, then yes they could also pair their phone to it but would only be able to use that phone when not talking on intercom, and it would take lower priority than the intercom pairing. Hope that make sense!

Question. What if I connect my cardo spirit (2 way) to cardo 4x but the 4x is also connected to other 4x. What will I hear on my cardo spirit? Will I hear all other 4x?
@MotoGeekFreak2 жыл бұрын
Yes - you will hear them and they will hear you, will work great 👍

So are you saying that if I connect intercom between one unit to say, a Sena, the first unit can have intercom and a phone connnection for music, but the Sena can have intercom only - no connection to a phone for music?
@MotoGeekFreak8 ай бұрын
As described in this video, yes. BUT, there's been an update from Cardo since I made this, and that update allows the Cardo and Sena to pair together using their standard Bluetooth Intercom Pairing on both sides! If the Sena has BT v4.1 or higher, then disregard this video and pair them together using normal intercom pairing on both sides (Cardo and Sena). If it's an older Sena, or some other brand, then this video is the way you need to do it. Hope that helps!

@@MotoGeekFreak Thanks so much for taking time to reply. I am having no luck. I am trying to connect a Fodsports M1S pro to a phone, a Sena SMH 5 to a phone, and then the two to intercom. The Fodsports is ok. But once intercom is connected the Sena will not connect to a phone, and cannot intiate an intercom call. Videos keep saying press the jog dial - no matter what length of time I press the jog dial for, the Sena just goes in to a continual double beeping.

If your “hacking” the other unit by thinking that’s it’s connected to a Bluetooth device, how far can the range possibly be? I can imagine if it was a rider and a passenger, it wouldn’t be a problem.
@MotoGeekFreak3 жыл бұрын
In my experience, any time you have one brand pairing to a different brand the range is DEFINITELY pretty tight. You have one side treating it like a phone (super short range) and the other treating it like an intercom (longer range), and where they meet ends up pretty short range.

Seems to work. Although I can't listen to music though my cell phone when paired with a non Sena. Any suggesting in being able to use my cell phone when implementing this technique. By the way I use a sena s10.

Now what if there are multiple people with all different headsets. Most of my friends use the packtalk bold so I got that one. But I sometimes ride with 2 different friends and they have 2 different brands. How could we all connect? Or is that not possible?

Problem is the one headset that has to give up a paired device. Many pair to a phone and GPS or CB bluetooth device. If so how to pair to another headset? Shouldn't have to give up a pairing.
@MotoGeekFreak4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree but yes unfortunately that's exactly right. If you're going to pair 2 headsets together that are different brands, then ONE of them will be giving up a "paired device" (like phone, GPS, etc.). Since conception, this is how every brand has obtained "Universal Intercom"........one goes into "Universal Pairing Mode" (and that one doesn't have to give up a device pairing) and the other goes to "Mobile Phone Pairing" because it's being tricked into thinking that it's pairing up to a phone. Hopefully that will eventually change!

Which one would you purchase for personal use if you prefer listening to your music and answering calls? The Packtalk Bold or 20S or 20S evo
@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
Both models will do that just fine (in fact MOST models out there would handle that fine), but, if comparing the Packtalk Bold to a 20s/20s Evo (the two 20s models are literally the same, just a different antenna and USB port cover), the JBL sound and the Natural Voice command ability give Packtalk Bold a pretty darn solid plus. Hope that helps and best of luck!
