Here's a few: - Card of Sanctity being ultra broken in the anime but became a completely different card in the OCG/TCG - Ra in general having a long ass effect in the anime and we got three card forms - Arcana Force being roulettes in the anime and Tag Force - Toons being untargettable at all except when they attack - Dark Magic Curtain allowing both players to summon a Dark Magician monster - Great Moth having an effect that reduces stats - Bandit Keith's monsters and Jinzo being immune to some effects just for being machines (e.g. Time Wizard)

Don't forget during the game Joey vs Yugi and some other cases, after time wizards effect resolves, cards actually age, I think one of bandit keiths cards couldn't be used while baby dragon got powered up.

You should do a spotlight on cards ONLY in the anime that, if they existed in the real game, would be stupid broken. An example is, in Bandit Keith vs. Joey, Keith plays a card called The Pillager, which has the simple effect to "Look at your opponent's hand and take one card." What I find funny is that, this card COULD have existed easily. Consider how simple-yet-broken some of the earliest spell cards were and it fits right in. And had it been created, it's one of the strongest card ever, being basically a better version of both Confiscation and The Forceful Sentry, two cards that came after that anime episode and yet are still weaker had it existed.

I remember the God cards from the anime being very OP. They couldn't be destroyed by trap or spells and could only be affected by them during one turn. I also remember Shinato's ark and Shinato, King of a Higher Plane each having like 5 effect and being very unfair.

@@ruyman90 From what I've seen of the anime/manga, they can't be "destroyed" by Trap effects while Magic effects only last one turn (which is why they only stayed on the field for one turn when Monster Reborn was used on them). Monster effects were rarely used on them, so it's hard to say for them. Shinato's Ark and Shinato himself weren't (all) effects of the cards themselves, but rather their Deck Master abilities.

Here's one : There are only 3 main Divine monster in TCG (4 in OCG with Holactie the Creator of Light). But in anime and manga : The Wicked God, the Sacred Beast and Aesir are also have Divine attribute so they have 12 god cards in total

In this section of "The Unknown Side of YGO" it would be good to talk about Dian Keto (the Spell Card) - It is one of the few OCG cards that had a design change in the TCG. - It was considered by many to be a card with a male Monster, even though the OCG design had her as an old lady. - Got one (well two) archetypes in Rush Duels, building a strategy around their variants. In fact, the Dian Keto variants consistently tell you the Monster's life before her become the Monster from the Spell Card's artwork that we all know.

If Wall Shadow and Gate Guardian are made by today's standards, the former would be utterly a 4000 ATK beatstick that can't be destroyed among other defensive effects while the latter would have its components' effects, attack three times, AND special summon its components upon death. EDIT: Looks like I only got the last part more or less correct.

I think the legacy of Firewall Dragon works for this series, as it was a card so powerful in the anime, that when it was released in the TCG it left destruction in its waker, but Konami didn't want to ban it.

One that immediately came to my mind was Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca. It was supposed to be Goodwin’s boss monster, with 1 ATK and 1 DEF, with an INSANE effect to lower the opponent’s life points to 1 just by skipping the Battle Phase. I feel like this would actually be reasonable, considering the insane amount of removal and negation now in the game

The most forgotten cards that stood out to me was Amoeba, which burns for 2k if it switches controls. There has to be an FTK or at least OTK with it but I have yet to see someone build a deck that doesn't just hope to draw switcherooroo

That would of been a interesting idea. Imagine this the rules text on the Gate Guardian said “This card only be Special Summoned by sending “Sanga of the Thunder”, “Kazejin”, and “Suijin” from your hand or field to the Graveyard. When this card is summoned equip 1 Sanga, Kazejin, and Suijin from your graveyard to this card, (Treat these as spell cards). Gate Guardian gains the effects of cards Equipped to it.”

Face Card Knights have actually been my main deck in Master Duel for the last few months and they are a ton of fun, especially if you run into an unfortunate mill deck player. Opened my eyes as to how much room the Light Warrior typing still has to grow too. There are surprisingly few extra deck monsters with the combination, especially if you ignore the utopias. I'm interested what the deck will be capable of in a few years, because Face Card Fusion has a lot of untapped potential.

(I’m just copying this from another video I commented on where Gate Guardians anime effects were talked about): Needs three specific materials: Contact fusion. XYZ summon that also allows the three classic tributes to be used as materials in place of level 11 monsters. _You can special summon this card from your hand, deck or graveyard by tributing (Insert three materials here) from your hand or field (min. 1 on the field) Has to be destroyed thrice before leaving the field, and negates effects directed at it: _This card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effect each thrice per turn_ _Once per turn, when your opponent would target this card for card effects, you can target another applicable card on the field for that effect instead._ Can flood the field with water: _Once per turn you can flip all cards on the field facedown. Cards that are not flipped facedown by this effect are destroyed._ OR _Once per turn you can treat the field as 1 field spell card in your GY_ Shocks opponent literally: _Your opponent receives damage equal to the ATK of monsters this card destroys by battle or effect._ If a future GG retrain were to exist this above would be my best guesses as to making it anime accurate. I also know I’ve talked about remaking this card a bazillion times so later I’ll just gather my best retrain ideas from across wherever and post them under this.

My favourite card from the anime is Infernity Zero as a monster effect that prevents game loss for a bit is really unique, then I looke dit up and there are a lot of them in the anime and none have been printed. The same episode as Infernity Zero also contained Infernity Death Gunman and him not being printed really stings as he's already in the video games including Duel Links.

I have 2 interesting ones: *Wolf wich is a level 3 normal beast type monster with 1200 ATK and 800 DEF, with all this it is an exact copy of Silver Fang that is a more notable monster for being part of Yugi's Deck during season 1. *Heroic Challenger Double Lance has the effect that when is normal summoned he can special summon another copy of itself form the hand or graveyard, and it could be a reference to the Zexal's anime were it was the first monster with the unique anime effect of treating itself as 2 materials for an Xyz summon

Future cards to potentially discuss: Flame Swordsman and Blue Swordsman as an awkward archetype forced to make themselves relevant because of the anime, food-type monsters in the Chef Deck in GX, and the Ojamas (including their relation to Armored Dragon) GX had a lot of throwaway duels that contained archetypes I never ran into again, so half the battle is if any of these cards are exist IRL anyway

Just a cool interaction that I want to state for symbol of friendship, if you reveal it with diamond dude (similar to doing the same with rank up magic the seventh one) you can use its effect to just search any card, you don't have to draw it and your opponent doesn't have to have 3 monsters and you don't have to control no cards

weird trivia bit about symbol of friendship: when it was first printed in the TCG, it had a little mistranslation from its OCG incarnation. instead of requiring you to control no cards, it just said that you had to control no *monsters*. it still never actually wound up seeing play, but the error was responsible for it getting a little bit of hype in the TCG for control decks. even with that giant buff, it's still a bad card, nobody played it, and it got errata'd later to match the OCG text and promptly became completely unplayable instead of just mostly unplayable.

Symbol of friendship is even worse as you must draw it for your normal draw in your draw phase. Meaning no using cards like heart of the underdog to draw normal monsters until you draw into it, no using jar of greed of reckless greed to attempt to draw it.

In GX, the Paradox Brothers had a good way to quickly get out Gate Guardian. Tribute Doll, Kaiser Seahorse, and I think they had Cost Down. Kaiser Seahorse lets you summon a high kevel Light monster with just one tribute, Cost Down reduced a two tribute summon to one, and Tribute Doll lets you summon a level 7 monster for the turn without tributes. That was a freat workaround to get out Gate Guardian for the time. With Pendulum Summoning its even easier. Just have a scale of 1 and 8 to get out the three cards.

Level 5 and higher monsters require 1 less tribute to tribute summon. Once per turn, you car tribute 1 monster on your side of the field; normal or special summon from your hand or deck 1 level 7 monster of the same attribute as the tributed card. There's also the many, many cards that have different anime effects than their real world counterparts, but aren't noteworthy enough for a Top 10 video. Like how the condor Earthbound God card that could skip your battle phase to set your opponent's life points to 1.

Weird aside, but I could legit see Gate Guardian being pretty fun as an XYZ monster. Possibly having an effect similar to a lot of Chaos Numbers where if you have some combination of Sanga, Kazejin, and Suijin as overlay units it gets bonus benefits.

Gate Guardian should have remake similar to Electromagnet Warrior. Series of Level 4 monsters (Mini/baby version) that treats name as Suijin, Kazejin, Sanga while on the field, all of them have 3 effects. • On being Summoned; do something like Special Summon, Add, Draw, etc • If destroyed, SS the big counterpart from Hand, Deck or GY. • Banish from GY while control Gate Guardian (Quick Effect); do something like Destroy, Negate, Banish, etc This will boost the consistency and provide OG Gate Guardian presence with disruption or negation (using mini Suijin, etc, GY effect) and definitely bait players into playing this gimmicky deck. Cmon Konami, this is profitable. Make Gate Guardian Structure Deck.

Trial of Nightmare is one of the few cards to be released in the TCG with a name that had to be censored. After The Struggle is the only other example I can think of. The difference between those two cards is that After The Struggle had a different name than its OCG name while Trial of Nightmare had the same name.

I have wanted gate guardian to get a retrain/archetype ever since I first saw it because of its cool design. It's just wasted potential to have that thing sitting around not doing anything. At least in capsule monster coliseum, it is one of the strongest dark monsters in the game, pretty much only being beat out by exodia (but having debatably better attack tiles than exodia). Speaking of which, would be cool to see a list of cards with the weirdest changes in old video games. Duelists of the roses comes to mind, where three-card fusions like blue-eyes ultimate dragon get rituals for them

One thing to note is that in the manga, Jack's Knight is actually a Level 4 monster with 1800 ATK instead of a Level 5. Idk about the origins of why his stats were changed in the TCG.

I think the strongest Anime card ever is Super Polymerization. It was a central plot point of Yugioh GX Season 3 AND it was made of the souls of many dead School Children.

Something i think the anime did a bad job with anime/manga original cards is that alot of the extra effects were explained in the manga with the fact that before battle city they used tabletop effects which added onto the already in place effects. The anime uses the tabletop rules but doesnt do a good job of explaining that nor does it show it well
