Whatever you do don't give up - don't even get pissed. If you didn't get the job immediately go back online and apply to MORE jobs. You will feel much better if you do that. I did. There's always going to be another opportunity. After you apply for another job you will drop the old one and say "screw them; it's their loss" - I know my shit and I eventually got hired!

Here’s one, my interview was garbage before it even started-the HR manager called and emailed me for a phone interview; I replied accordingly and we agreed on a set date and time for her to call. Well, she never called and I ended up calling her. She didn’t recall who I was nor did she have a meeting on her schedule, she knew she was wrong because everything was confirmed via email. She then told me the position was filled, but another position would open soon and I would be the first to get a call. No thanks, that was the most unprofessional experience I’ve ever encountered in my working life.

Answering the more complex questions took my interview from a 10 to a 5😐 I felt like I was rambling incoherently in trying to answer the more complex questions. I need time to think my answers through, unfortunately I can't think fast enough to give a coherent answer without looking silly🤣 I just have a bad feeling about the outcome of this interview.

I recently had another interview and there was some warning signs of toxicity from him. At the end I asked some questions about turnover rates and his eyes grew big and there was a pause like he was hiding something. Also when I asked about how do you measure success he took a longer pause and mentioned just do your job. He also misled me by telling me I was going to meet someone else, but instead my interview was over. The receptionist told me they don't give out the managers email to follow up, so I just needed to email the main company. What are your thoughts about this story? Thanks so much for your time.

A lot of job interviews are a sham.They already know who they are going to give the job to. In my experience, most interviewers are appalling. In a recent interview I asked two reasonable questions. 1 The salary. 2 When the post started. They couldn't give me a answer to either.

The crazy part was I had these signs of a failed interview but I wasn't upset due to the fact that I felt that I wasn't truly a good fit for the position and the interviewers (it was a panel interview) were dry at the beginning of the interview and they probe me for questions because they didn't think I had the skills that I listed on my resume. It was for a supervisor position and I guess they didn't think I was supervisor material. Oh well, there is always the next time and more opportunities. Never get discouraged, my friends!

I am failing all my job interviews. am I the problem or am I no longer capable? Today, I had yet another face to face interview. Duration of interview one hour e 10 minutes. I had a bad interview with a lot or red flags. Starting with knocking on the door to enter the building, this was answered by the owner (I recognized him from the website). He neither acknowledged me nor greeted me just opened the door and went on with his meeting. I was left standing before someone came over to greet me. The interview panel took me to a noisy cafeteria, lack of room, which was ok, I get it when you are growing fast and there is no room. There were so disinterested... At which point I realized that I also was very disinterested... I actually felt joy that things turned out how they did!!! Man, I just had the most awful interview the other day. I went in to meet the Managing Director for a financial services firm and at first things flowed pretty well. Then when I mentioned that I was also interviewing with other companies and was a little unsure of the position they had, he stopped smiling and started to act resentful towards me. I don't see any points to jump out if skin if the employer isnt interested. Just take it as it is. Come back home, take a breath, let it go and continue the search. Its like a relationship - people either match or dont, and every effort to get the nmatchable together is a waste of time, life and effort. As for thank you note - in my country, Ukraine, we dont have that practice as widely accepted. We dont call to follow up why they are quiet and trying to impress them somehow to stand out. They are not interested and that is an answer for all "why?" Your is waiting for you around the corner, be patient, work on your skills and it will come. The hardest thing is to continue confidently after rejection, but strength is a muscle.

I applied for a tech job and got a coding challenge which I did really well in so I was scheduled to meet with the CTO. When I got there I was interviewed by another guy because the CTOs was in a meeting. That interview went really well since I answered most questions correctly and went for about 30 minutes, he also said the interview went really well compared to previous ones but after that I went in a meeting with the CTO he asked a couple questions and checked out my web portfolio and said it was really cool. so he asked a coding related question which I thought was really easy and I answered it and knew my answer was correct since I searched the answer up online when I got home. But when I was trying to solve the white board question and trying to write out the solution on the board he was on his phone when I looked around and was paying no attention to my solution. 3 minutes into me solving the problem he said he was sorry but a meeting came up that he had to run to, which caught me by surprise and was really thrown off. I didn't overreact just said thank you for your time and stuff. 90% of the interview went well but I have no idea where I went wrong was just thrown off guard since that has never happened to me before

I interviewed for an entry level job I have no experience in. But I made it to the final interview with the hiring manager. The recruiter loved me and they said I did really well on my assessment. I was super nervous for my final interview which was this afternoon via zoom. I couldn't really tell how interested she was in me because the picture was grainy. But I was told I'd hear back within 48 hrs. I do feel like I could have answered a couple of the questions better, but we'll see what happens...I really really hope I get this position!

Depends. If it's the 1st interview, it may not come up and you should never bring it up in the 1st interview. Let them bring it up in the 1st interview. It would most likely be brought up in the 2nd or 3rd interview.

Jennifer, I am totally serious: As a Japanese-American male, born in Seattle in 1973, let's just say, that I get sent to the "next interviewer," and he JUST happens to be a fellow Japanese-American, with a Japanese last name, and male. This can be surprisingly easy to lose sight of, even as a 50 year old (me): I should NOT, under any circumstances, on my own accord, start talking to "him" about the injustices that Japanese-Americans faced during World War II, or "Stop Asian Hate." Because, while he'll likely listen to me, there is NO way of knowing how HE really feels, and how HIS loyalties and allegiances lie. It's possible that, even in the 50s and 60s, his family could have lived in a very rural area, mostly White, they are the only Japanese, and were ACCEPTED very well by the White people, and therefore, he DOESN'T have the same paranoias and hangups of a Japanese-American who grew up in a "big American city," like Los Angeles. Great great reminder! In fact, that would be like me thinking, that I can speed 80 mph in a 30 mph zone, and just because the officer who pulls me over is a Japanese-American male, that I'm going to get off scott free. Doesn't work that way.

How can you end an interview early as an interviewee?
@CareerSuccess
@CareerSuccess 5 жыл бұрын
This is an excellent question (sorry for the delay in responding). The only way that you could end an interview early in my opinion is waiting until one portion of your interview has been completed and then being up front, letting the interviewer know that you do not think this is a good fit for you and ending the interview. I've personally never seen this done before. Most people who interview will complete the process and afterward will decide to withdraw from the interview process. I hope this helps!

It was really weird the two of the 3 panelists didn't seem that interested in my opinion. I gave presentation of something they had asked me to do. I even caught an error in their test assignment which from their response it sounds like I was the only one to catch it. Nobody said "wow" or "cool" but they kind of just stared at my presentation... very few follow-up questions and it felt like question-answer-question-answer for most of the time. My potential supervisor was the one most enthusiastic and was lighting the mood. But without him there it probably would've felt very boring. I think my presentation was boring? But it's a data analyst position and it was reporting on their data... the interview last 1 hour as scheduled and they made sure to ask all of their questions. Eye contact was very strong, they had smiles and all of them were nodding in agreement with most of my answers. However, I'm used to having the interviewers compliment my answers if they liked it or affirm my answers at least. Do you think this was a bad interviewer?

The interview began at 9:50 and ended around 10:20, which is quite short for a usual interview but in the duration of it, everything went well. Like we knew each other already and it went smooth. She like tossed 4 or 5 questions to me and then proceeded to ask me if I have any questions. I am torn to the fact that the interview went very well but it was too short.
