Best way to get a promotion and a raise is look for another job and get an offer letter and put down your papers in existing company.

Yeah but it may not work in all situations, there are still companies looking to lay off people in the name of restructuring or cost cutting even if you are a critical resource it really doesnot matter to them. In that case there is nothing to lose for both of you provided you have an offer letter on hand. Point here is that just by merely having one more offer will not fetch you promotions once the management decided not to move on with you, period.

@@samirbhalerao5579 Worst case, your existing company keep you in on your term, giving you the matching salary and within 1 year your work will be distributed to other team mates or junior and you get laid off, remember when you have offer letter don't given any 2nd thoughts on existing company, I have seen some cases in corporate

Hi …all good and valid points . The point of building relationship with the right people….. actually boils down to boot licking or Chaatuukerita … there are vultures and snakes who are ever ready to do this and get ahead in spite of being junior and less experienced. The decision maker like such people without even realising …. There are people in my organisation who play badminton and meet up for drinks with so called bosses and decision makers outside the working hours and just go ahead and get promoted. Good , sincere , introverted people with integrity are bypassed. This is the dark truth of most organisations. Anyways thanks for your kind efforts to make the content. God bless.

It is possible to get promotion without even you ask for it. It depends a lot on iindividual company culture I have seen many times whoever asked for promotion and wage increase has been sidelined in crucial times.

Mr. Anand, in my humble opinion, once the management decided not to proceed with you it is absolutely irrelevant for you to do all the gimmicks. Period My point is that when you have already proved yourself with good performances, no reason why you need to do all other stuff to convince them to make your case strong?? Their mindset will be not to give you anything to keep you there and loyalty doesn't find a place these days in the corporate world. So its just a matter of equipping yourself with much-needed skills to give yourself enough cushion to seek a decent job outside but finding good one will take time for sure. Just be ready to pack your bags and starting selling yourself where you are worth it

Yes. Ask for it politely, you may get it. Otherwise every company has the rule of promotion based on no of years of working with that company. Some companies promotes most of the lower level employees every 3 years once if you ask or 5 years once without your ask. If you want salary hike or promotion just ask for it politely with all required documents of your work. The relationship with manager or boss is very very very important even if you are highly skilled on your work. Boss always choose the one who is good in relationship with them , next one is communication with internal and external team and then subject Skills are taken as last priority.. If you joined new company then dont expect promotion for 2 or 3 years even if you work good. Existing employees will burn you in jealous. Should be very carful here...
