Great tip I wish I had viewed this before I replaced my lip seal. Getting the top off when it had been in situ for many years was a real challenge. Great video, always nice to have a solution if the tank plate is stubborn, however it is worth pointing out this method can not be used on the older Thetford C200 cassette (grey cassette with yellow buttons/knobs) or you will most certainly damage the slider mechanism as the plate is secured with eight screws to the cassette.

Hi, I can tell this has been up awhile, but I’ll ask. I have that cassette toilet. Just unboxed. I cannot at this point pull the cassette out. I’ve read the manual that says it should come out without force. So I have not forced it. I’ve made sure the blade is closed. Any suggestions?
@keithandmichele4 жыл бұрын
Hi, assuming you lift the front lever high enough over the lip and the blade is closed, the cassette should slide out without force. Never force it as this could do more damage. Apart from opening & closing the blade a few times we would recommend seeking assistance from your dealer or a mobile engineer. Keith & Michele

Hi Keith, great tip. however after trying your method to unscrew the access panel I noticed 2 screws I removed these and it still wouldn't move. I then removed the 2 covers from the sides to reveal a futher 6 screws, after removing these the whole access panel just lifted out. Maybe this is due to the age of the caravan (2006). Appreciate you replying to my question. Am I right in thinking not when the cassette is inserted?
@keithandmichele5 жыл бұрын
When you insert the cassette into the caravan, the slider will automatically slide open. When you remove the cassette from the caravan the slider then slides into the closed position. We would highly recommend that you do not remove the slider when inserting the cassette back into the caravan, it is there for a purpose. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.

Hi Folks,thank you for the informative video, newbie here so all tips are welcome,would it be wise to use bleach/detol to clean inside of cassette ?
@keithandmichele5 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, Many thanks for your kind words 👍🏻 As we have said in many of our videos, we’re not experts, just sharing our experiences & tips that we have picked up along the way. With this in mind, personally we wouldn’t use bleach in the toilet cassette as this could be harmful & react to the plastic & rubber seal. When we clean ours, we use Milton sterilising fluid which is effective yet gentle & readily available in supermarkets. Every few months, for a deep clean, we use this method, filling the cassette right to the top with a mixture of Milton & water & leave it in the car whilst driving to agitate it. This gives a thorough clean. Hope this helps 👍🏻 Keith & Michele.

Rub Vaseline around the seal from first use. Job done. It stays sealed and easy to remove. Its like rubbing oil around your pressure cooker seal. Removing the lid saves the seal and also acts as a seal barrier also. Job done no need for a chunk of wood. If you have no Vaseline? cooking olive oil will do the job also.

Sorry, but I don't get all these clean the inside your toilet cassette videos from the UK. It is utter pointless, next time you use it you're back to square one. Empty the cassette, use toilet blue or green, after emptying the cassette add a little water and shake it good and get the rest out of it. Use Thetford Cassette Cleaner after season. Put oil on the seal. It is a poo tank. It doesn't need to be spotless inside guys. ;)
