Thank you ma'am. it was like you were talking just for me. Going through a very exhausting phase, with both parents fracturing their hips back to back, further falls, tantrums et al.and things are at the challenging best right now, with no time for kids(ofcourse they are grown ups), no time to relax or for a proper sleep..It was a wonderful soothing short session.. Thank you 🙏..Much love from Kerala.

Heard your soothing talk. It was Godsend. I was feeling frustrated and irritable after having completed all my daily chores, leaving one last task of changing diapers for my aged mother with dementia. In fact, I have a day time Attender for my mother, besides a 24x7 Attender for my father aged 89 years. I have a Cook too and a maid. Believe me, in spite of all this, it gets very difficult at times as managing all these people is a challenge in itself. Thank you for the encouraging talk which helped me bounce back to normal. 🙏

Many are in exactly the same situation. Despite all the support staff we have , we get overwhelmed, irritable and hyper anxious because of the sense of responsibility/. It’s strong karma and one has to face it and go through it bravely and with detachment. Listening to Gitajis talk was so comforting , just to know someone understands and took the trouble of shooting a beautiful video on this topic - is a gift. Best wishes to all.

Ma'm , i think the stress gets compunded when you have to be a caregiver for a difficult elderly person ... My MIL has fractured her shoulder and knee due to a fall and is recovering in my home . Relations with her were never very good..She is highly obsessed with her son even till date and was very upset when he married me ( it was a love marriage ). In the initial days she & my fil stayed with us and she tried her best to create problems and a rift. Even now , she constantly badmouths me and my parents for no reason. She is the same way with her extended family too . Constantly fights with her husband too. In fact they never talk unless it is about food or the kids. Now that I am faced with this situation , I try and take it one day at a time , exercise a bit and keep my interaction with her very matter of fact and minimum. I think it is easier when we have to take care of a loved one as compared to when you have to take care of someone with whom u have difficult relations ... the only way to do it properly is to be detached and treat it as a duty ...I just left like leaving this comment ...bcoz i am in this situation for the last couple of months .

You are strong. Yes it is indeed difficult to handle a person who is not so loving towards you. But all said and done you must be yourself and answer your conscience. If your conscience asks you to do your duty, please do it. You will be peaceful. Take every day afresh. Keep going.

You are a very strong person ❤️ Hats off to your sense of duty & responsibility... It is an un acknowledged fact that caregiving for a person with whom you have no emotional connect is several times more taxing than care giving for a person whom you love.... The entire task drains away much of one's will to live life fully and tests one's faith constantly.... The situation is always seen and judged by the scale of the social interpretation of the relationship (between the caregiver & the sick person) rather than the real relationship.... As a person sailing in the same boat, sending you love, hugs & healing energy ✨🙏 Though I haven't figured out a way to replenish the energy that's drained every single day, I am trying to hold on to my faith 💫

@@jayanthiswaminathan6210 Yes. Same situation for me too. All other sons nicely utilized My MIL. That time I am out of family. But now since she aged they washed their hands and shifted her to my house. So don't feel bad. Do not except love from other end. Just do duty and be happy with your loved ones.

Every word is true! Beautiful message. It’s quite exhausting and stressful but equally fulfilling. No one really talks about this and especially the guilt. Sometimes I do feel miserable spending the best part of my years tending to someone while others are enjoying their lives and the guilt is very real and painful. But very true: it’s all Gods will and our choice to care and love our loved ones.

Dear Geeta aunty , I don't know you personally, but I love your nice videos🎉 This one was also excellent 🎉 Wise, kind, mature , ...like a mother talking to her daughter 🎉 But just a few things: 1. When a mother takes care of her child , she knows that she has to do this for maximum 4 or 5 years and then children soon become independent. They have to because the mom cannot accompany them everywhere: to the school, playground, friends 'house, etc. But while caring for an aging parent , one never knows whether the loved one will be around till they are 80, or 85 or 90 or 95.....😢 Also while handling our children when they are infants our age is generally between 20 to 30 or 35🎉 But while handling aged parents etc, the caregiver son/ daughter are themselves 60 or 65 etc and the dear old sick or ailing or bedridden parent is 85 or 90. Makes a lot of difference 🎉😢😊🙏🙏🙏🎊🎉💜💛♥️💙💕💕

That is God's way of telling us to show our love and empathy to others. Of course Mam we had also undergone this situation..... Anyways I managed when my Mom met with an accident and now she is good. But when we hired a caregiver as I was working and preparing for an exam which was a crucial time to look after my family... Those caregivers don't know anything . instead there was utterly no use of hiring them even for the support and of course we had done the same job... Total waste of money and they are not qualified caregivers where they don't understand the physical and psychological well-being of the patient. And this is absolutely a business which is certainly commercialised where most of the caregivers are irresponsible and out of their limits to use the house as if it was their own when we are not in the house. That was embarrassing. Then we stopped all those caregivers and continued our job. I mean to say many people are doing this business for elderly care in a commercialised way and is utterly benefit for them and not for the patients. This is obviously wrong to play with elderly care by making it as a business.

Now when I think back, I feel grateful for the opportunity to shower my love and care when they needed it most. As you correctly said, I too wonder if I could have done more. Now, my 95 year old MIL will be coming to live with us. She is in good health and does her self care independently but this video has given me a good reminder if at all a situation comes up in future (though I pray that she remains well ) ❤

Mam when u say ask for help its not that easy, in a city like Mumbai. Hired help is available but the rates for trained and good quality people are astronomical( I have one of late but she too is leaving.)

I agree . Prices are high. what I meant was, asking help from immediate family if possible

Hi mam I am married for 14 years. I take care of my in laws and my husband well. My in laws stay in hometown. We stay in city. Every time whenever my mother in law visits us she wants what ever we have at home. Example electric kettle. She does not us it in home town but she wants.. My husband never gives emotional support and financial support to me. My mother in law wants to upper hand in my home.. How can I make my husband understand my need
