This is a review for a lifting aid for senior dogs, disabled dogs, or injured dogs with mobility issues. It can help you lift and carry your dog up and down stairs and help you get your dog in and out of vehicles.
We review the Petsafe CareLift Full-body Harness. Jaeger, our 95 lbs Chesapeake Bay Retriever has arthritis in his front legs and cannot get in and out of our car or RV by himself.

I have the carelift lifting harness for my dog Lucy. She started stumbling on the steps. The harness allows me to help her up the steps to the bedroom at night. My son built a ramp down to the yard so she can safely go down to potty. This harness is such a Godsend!!!! So well built and functional!

Thank you so much for this video!!! My dog Paco is 14 and has arthritis. He is now getting where is falls over on floors and goes to the right when we go up and down stairs. You have brought joy to my life. I can't wait to buy this for him and hope it helps. I was talking to the dr. and at 86 pounds I wasn't sure I could lift him in and out of the car.

Thank you for this review. My Lab/beagle just had bilateral TPLO surgery for her back knees. She needs to have support while walking during her 6 to 12-week recovery. This looks like a great option during her recovery.

I've a Labrador, Maggie, she just turned 11 years old and few weeks ago she just started to have really bad bone and joint problems, reducing her mobility a lot. @@mcsdog She was already taking Kimi Move (similar to Fresh Factor ) since last year, when joint problems started to appear. Unfortunately Maggie x-rays gave us not so good news and now only pills will give her some comfort, but the most impressive thing is that day by day, her mobility is degrading really fast, cant even stand on her own anymore. Trying everything we can to give her the best quality of life possible..

The harnesses seemed loose and moved around a bit. I was hoping this would be the solution for us but I can’t see how that is comfortable for the dog.

I liked it loose. We never had any issues with it. But the harness is also adjustable, so you could certainly make a snugger fit for your dog if desired

If I just use the rear harness, it seems to fall backwards and off of my dog. I have a Corgi with little legs. Will this work for him? Also, he can't walk at all on his back legs. Will this help by my lifting his back legs and him then walking on the front legs only? Thank you.

I was able to use just the rear with Jaeger, when I made sure he wore the belly strap and that everything was fitted tight enough. But I never left just the hind on for long periods of time. I would use both together with a dog that cannot use his hinds at all to give more support

I noticed in the first ramp scene the back straps of the harness looked very loose and drooping around his "knees" - are the straps hard to adjust for a more secure fit? Thank you. I am thinking of purchasing this harness for my 9-year-old Doberman who has CVI (Wobblers). Do you keep the harness on Jaeger all the time, or remove it at night? Also, my dog is female, so could she just keep the belly strap on all the time? Or would that interfere with her bathroom breaks? Thanks again!

Gina, they are super easy to adjust. We just liked them loose rather than tight, so we can just let the harness slip off when the dog is in the car.

Hi. Would this work in getting a dog down a flight of stairs? Is this tool more meant for assisting the dog or can I actually lift the dog a bit off the ground as in going down stairs? THANK YOU.

That should work very well with that. I used it to get my Chesapeake up the ramp into the RV. It has two very solid handles one for the front one for the back. Good luck

This is supposed to come with a shoulder strap. It attaches to the front & rear harness pieces, you squat, place it on your shoulder, then lift the dog with your legs/glutes instead of your arms/shoulders.

It is designed so that you can lift the dog. We used the handles mostly, but there is a shoulder strap that attaches to the front and back harness so that you can use your body to carry the dog. Jaeger is 95 pounds and it was easy to carry him w this setup

Very confusing how to attach rear leg, even with video directions . Is there a step by step directions. Video of exactly how to attach leg portions. The buckles are confusing. Please help is there a better video?

I would recommend you check the companies website for exact measurements. It is adjustable, in many places and they may even make a size larger.

So you have to lean over and grab the handles? I don't think that will work for me and my guy. Going down stairs, having to move with him that way doesn't look like it would be easy at all. Jaeger looks like he could benefit from a bit of weight loss; it would make movement SO much easier on him. Poor boy.

I ended up ordering a different style lifting harness for my 90lb malamute (one that offers more support and lifting on the stomach area than the hips and chest separately) and if that style doesn’t work for him, I’m going to order this one :) it’s his first time needing/using something like this so I suspect there will be some trial and error. Great video, I’m definitely getting this one if the one I bought doesn’t work out :)
