8:57 On the PS4 at least the caretaker has literal 360 degree vision here and the second he sees you your character freezes on the spot and can't run away. Shit game.

I can’t escape the caretaker, I grabbed the key and the thing and when I go thru the door, he’s right there outside and attacked me. With a couple of attempts, I even see him spawned near the keys. I had to run in circles around the wall and back to grab the keys and escaped.. whewww

Just lure him out of the room to the place where you interacted with mirror a moment before. He will die and you can collect items without any pressure.

I don't have the gas so can't escape in the van

I had the same issue despite picking the gas up. I loaded my last save just before picking up the van key. Both van key and garage key not there to pick up. So I went straight to the garage and was able to leave in the van.
