In the 80s there was a large cedar tree bridge way above the river with a railing on one side. Crossing that bridge with a full pack was a thrill. Also, there are excellent cutthroat trout in the lake.

What a beautiful area. Not sure if I’ll ever get out there - too many other midwestern and east coast parks to visit - so I really appreciated this video. Breakfast beauty😍!! Safe travels and Carey on. ❤

A few years ago, we headed up and stayed with friends in Poulsbo and then visited relatives in Seguim and then headed down the coastal highway into the Rain Forest and rain rain but, wait, there's more, rain rain so we headed out down the coast and into SUNSHINE. Yea. I'll bet those fresh slugs were very tasty.

Well, if today’s video didn’t hit home, nothing will. I and my family spent summers up there at Lake Cushman for many years. We have a cabin on the lake at the Mount Rose subdivision. (The last subdivision on the left before you continue on to Staircase). I spent a lot of time hiking and backpacking up in the Staircase and waterskiing on the lake. During the 1970’s, Hoodsport, Lake Cushman and Staircase were little known spots. So, we had free range to do pretty much whatever we wanted. Thank you for the walk down memory lane. I’m thinking of buying a class b rv and moving back to Washington. I miss the lushness of the PNW! Carey On!!!

It’s beautiful! I’d say visit before you move. I don’t think I could handle the PNW winters again! 😄🌧️🌧️🌧️

@@CareyOnVagabond if I get the class b, I can always head south to the desert. But honestly, I loved the winters in the Seattle area when I was young. But now at 64, maybe the damp cold might be too much. Carey On!

Ha ha! I researched the crap out of this park & am still semi-winging it! We have been here for a week or two & have another two plus weeks in the area. There is a lot going on here! 😂 But yeah, we end up tag-teaming short hikes because of the dog.

Irene, why are you always looking for a closer look at a fungi when you are traveling with one?

How was the road into the Staircase Campground? Looked like slow and gravel, but not many potholes? No problem in my Zion? I’m with ya, hate the time restraints.
