Hurricane Ridge is my favorite to hike, especially in the spring.. As it has mind blowing Alpine type meadows and more. It was wall to wall flowers.

It has been decades since I last was up Hurricane Ridge. As I told you last week, I am DEFINITELY jumping in the Sprinter rv and heading out that way as soon as I am cleared from PT. I don’t care that it will be January/February. I need a PNW fix. And more specifically, the Olympic Peninsula. In winter time, the Peninsula becomes very mysterious, with low lying clouds drawing away as the day grows. Sending healing mojo to your son. I hope you two and all that are close to your son are also doing well. Big hugs all around and… Carey On!

So cool to watch your travels into our neck of the woods. Unfortunately, as you discovered not much between Hoodsport and Sequim. I love that campground at Dungeness Spit as the hike to the lighthouse is awesome if you time it right and long, so returning to the campsite after the walk is great. Hurricane Ridge is spectacular and yes, the hikes are great. And, weather permitting, the road is open year-round. Fun to snowshoe up there and sometimes get above the inversion layer. We've never camped at Heart O the Hills. For one, it's only an hour from our home in Port Townsend. But, have thought about camping there. But, hearing "we're just not feeling it" made me chuckle. I love the fact you name the places you go in great enough detail to be able to find on a map. A passion of mine is photography and many people online will not name specific locales. I understand that in some regards, but so many places out there (like the Oly Pen) just don't attract lots of people just to take an Instagram photo. Long way of saying thanks for naming the places you go and don't go as it gives me ideas of where I'd like to travel and places I'll continue to avoid.

We stayed in Forks, then met up with Mick Dodge who lives in the HOH rain forest. Nice area.

@@CareyOnVagabond yeah our first work camping job was at a campground near Mt. St. Helens on Spirit lake. We got 30” of rain just in Jan after we unfortunately decided to stay through winter. Talk about Baptism by fire.

Hey guys! Very beautiful area. I dare say close to Scandinavian-ish nature. But still, I have one desire to explore this area. I look at the map where you are. Truly a gift to be allowed to follow you. No camping here. Winter is coming soon...................
