I completely agree with Patrik on the discrepancy between large factories in reality versus factory games being a sore point in the genre, so seeing how modular buildings are being implemented in Foundry is an exciting thing to see. Having one massive blast furnace fed with a massive hot air tower really gives it that large scale industrial aesthetic. Also watching the process of it being constructed was cool too. Hopefully there are modular versions for most aspects of the game loop (energy, mining, production, etc.) planned.

We need vertical conveyors. It doesn't matter if freight elevators are "kind of like" vertical belts, they are not conveyor belts and don't connect directly to other conveyors. Freight elevators are good for moving ore out of below ground mining areas, but are terrible if you are trying to route resources to other levels within a factory. They take up way too much space and require loaders which expand the footprint even more. I'm a bit shocked that he even suggested that freight elevators could be used in lieu of vertical conveyors. If vertical conveyors have been promised or discussed further since this Dev Stream was recorded, please ignore my comment. I don't keep up with these dev streams or spend time on Discord. Also, I would add that any factory game in development, should include blueprints from the very start. Get them working pre-alpha. They are essential and shouldn't be a "we will try to add them, unless we can't" item. I enjoy Satisfactory, but it's obvious that that team added blueprints late in their development and as a result the Satisfactory blueprints are limited and feel tacked on.
