@@gillis122 The amount of detail you put into it really sets it apart here on KZbin. Such great work! For some, loosing access to that back might be a no go, but that thing would make a fantastic field cool area, fish cleaning area, and on top of all of that, provide some rain shelter. It would be so easy to add a mosquito net around that as well for a nice outdoor area. Just great!

Thanks for watching. The cargo conversion was fun. I had a lot more space to design with. The part I disliked the most was the demolition of the original cargo trailer. The manufacturer used thousands of staples and nails my wife and I had to pull out to get down to the frame of the trailer. I think if I did another one I would build the trailer just like I did with the treadrop. It would have taken me more time but would have saved a good bit of money. Also, it would have been plumb and square! The trailer was almost 2 inches out of square.

Thanks for watching and commenting. The AC setup is simple. The vents are used to pull hot air out of the trailer. Both must me open so to provide cross ventilation. When you buy the AC unit it has a condensation pan mounted to them. I drill a 3/8" hole and mount a brass fitting at the lowest point on the pan. I mount the AC unit so when the trailer is level the unit is tilted toward the drain (not very much maybe 1/4" or less). Then I used a vinyl drain tube that runs down and out the floor of the trailer. It works well. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again for watching.

I’ve ordered a 14’x7’x7’ height. Would these be better with more insulation added. I was thinking of 2” rather than 1”. I’d get the additional depth by adding furring strips to the metal framing. I’d love to get your wiring diagram for the build. Thanks

@@charlesfaulkner8653 Hey Charles, I live in Georgia and it gets HOT. My parents said the AC worked fine and they were very comfortable in almost 100 degree temps. I used 1" insulation through out because that was the thickness of the metal ribs on the trailer. As for the wiring diagram I bought a "wiring bus" at home depot for the 12 volt stuff. I used 12-2 wiring for the 110 volt stuff. I ran a separate breaker for the AC and I used a separate breaker for a dedicated outlet that my mother uses for a hair dryer and curling iron. The 30 amp WFCO converter allows for a main breaker and 2 double breakers which will give you 4 different circuits. I used all 12 volt lighting utilizing LEDs from ebay. They worked great and pull very little amperage. The other two breakers I used one for the kitchen area for a toaster oven and cooking appliances. The last circuit was for the outlets inside the trailer. (next to the bed and in the closets. The other issue I had was where to ground the converter. I talked with an electrician and he told me the ground goes to the trailer frame. Everything seems to work very well. Let me know if I can help with other questions. Thanks for watching, hope this helps you.

This is amazing!! What a good son you are! Can you give a ballpark figure of your cost in converting this? I really love it 😊
@gillis1224 жыл бұрын
Hello Rachel, Thanks for the compliment. The cost including the trailer purchase was around $5500 . That does not include any labor. I work really cheap for my parents. hahah. It took me about 2 months to finish. I had a lot of fun designing and building the little camper. My parents love it. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Beautiful job most impressive I've seen love how you have storage under bed in front as well as back to utilize the space you have. I'm p purchasing a trailer soon to do something like this so you have any plans on paper on how and what materials you used? Please let me know and again beautiful job I know your parents are happy 😁

I dont have any plans. I used refinished plywood from a local cabinet supply company. Most of the parts I bought from the internet. The trailer I bought was way out of square. That gave me some problems with fitting cabinets and the other fixtures. Good luck and have fun building the camper. If you have any other questions please dont hesitate to ask.

It should read pre-finished plywood. Birch.
