I agree about the steering! It's soooo smooth. (We have a 2023). And the interior and exterior design is just so classy and streamlined. I love its aesthetics. It's both sporty and luxurious-looking and not at all rugged-looking or bulky-looking like so many other SUVs are. It's just a gorgeous machine.

CX-5 cargo space may be limited for some, but I managed to haul a 47” desk; piano keyboard; small treadmill and whatever else I could cram into every nook. Averaged 31 mpg/highway, fully loaded. Smooth as silk the whole 500 mile roadtrip.

I had a Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition in USA earlier this year. It was the 2.5 litre naturally aspirated model with all wheel drive and 6 speed automatic transmission. Having driven many CX-5s here in Australia, it was around 5 to 10 percent softer in its front suspension, and about 10 to 15 percent softer in the rear. Compared to an Australian spec CX-5, it understeered earlier, was floaty over big undulations, and its tyres squealed earlier, being all season Toyo tyres compared to the Toyo summer tyres on Australian spec CX-5s. Despite these differences, it was still a great car, though, and after putting 14250 miles on it in 2 months during March to May of this year, I was finally sold, and recently bought a Mazda CX-5 Akera G35 2.5 turbo petrol/ gasoline AWD and 6 speed automatic, which is the top specification CX-5 here - roughly equal to a US spec Signature Edition. It might be an old design by car standards, certainly, but its design is well proven and reliable. I looked at some Mazda CX-50s in the States, too, and their build quality is very much inferior to the CX-5. Just look at both the driver and front passenger seat backs - they have more stitching waves than the Gold Coast's Surfer's Paradise Beach and Daytona Beach in Florida. Not to mention the plastic surrounds around the automatic transmission selector lever and quadrant (P R N D) - they look like they've been cut with a kid's plastic pair of scissors. You can see blog type reviews of my CX-5 in the States on my channel, whilst driving around USA. Great, honest review. I subscribed. Keep up the good work.

I had a 2017 model (base engine) and upgraded last year to a 2024 Carbon edition. I didn’t even take a test drive, knowing what I was getting. The clean, elegant lines of the CX-5 really appeal to me, and the extra oomph of the turbo is appreciated. I rarely have anyone in the back seat, so the dimensions of the vehicle are ideal for me. I really do feel like I’m driving a vehicle that costs thousands more. Couldn’t be more pleased!

Hey, a car reviewer who likes the dial control for the screen. Top marks to you for not being biased to what all the other manufacturers offer. Coming from an aviation background I value control buttons so that I can alter aircon etc without having to take my eyes off the road. Having radio and aircon 5 menu levels down on a touch screen is not only stupid but dangerous for driving concentration. I HATE the space saver spare it is the one glaring decision that Mazda persists with.
@xmiller76913 күн бұрын
I would rather have the CX5's tire jack and space saving spare tire than no spare tire at all. Which is what many cars have lately. But they do provide a can of Slime and a cheap compressor. And no jack. It's called schityfication.

No question, it’s a beautiful looking car moving or standing still. There’s a lot to love about it. Very comfortable too. That said, I’m trading mine in at the end of the month; moving on. After two and a half years, I’m very tired of the maintainence issues, not to mention the COST. Reminds me of my old BMW days. I’ve had several issues, from the motors in the headlights, to a leaky transmission fluid cap(?), (covered under the warrantee) that they now need to keep overnight to fix, and can’t guarantee me a loaner. Unacceptable. Simply put, I can never just get in for a simple “oil change,” there’s ALWAYS something more to be done (“suggested maintainence”). The other day I went in for my oil change, and $998.00 later, and a 2.5 hour wait, I’m done. Think of going full electric. Don’t want or need the hassle.

0:25 this is false. The 2017 redesign was the second generation. 2022 is the third and current generation but was more of a refresh, but it was by no means just a styling update. They are all still based on the platform that goes back to 2013 so, yeah it’s the last of the old Mazda, but it drives better than anything on the new platform that doesn’t offer independent rear suspension and has a less quality feel.

This still looks better to me inside and out than other suvs. The turbo is an absolute blast. We test drove a 22, however, and found the seats to be extremely uncomfortable, which is weird because older ones were great as was our Mazda6. We then tried a CX50 which has rock hard seats. I've seen many other people online with the same complaint. Also, that dial driven non-touchscreen mounted on the dash is lame.

Madza, despite being a reliable car, has a design flaw that hinders its sales. The back design is unappealing, and the headlights are outdated. To address this issue, they should hire a new design team. I believe that with a fresh design, one of their cars could potentially rank among the top 25 best-selling cars in the US.

Year 2025 with outdated interior/exterior/technology MPG. You cannot convince a reasonable person that this is acceptable. I don't know how mazda gets away with this but I guess it's because of its fan base with people still buy it ( sort of like apple users buying iphones every year ). Cheap material and build marketed as "simple". Think of how they are saving so much money by convincing people this is the "simple mazda way"

I find the armrest in our 2023 CX-5 to be really annoying because the corner edges of it hit our elbows (on both the passenger and driver side). That armrest needs to be redesigned. I agree that the ride is noisy. The acceleration can be very loud (from the inside). In fact, I was starting to wonder if something was wrong with our car right after we got it because I felt like the acceleration was so unusually loud. But other than that, we absolutely love our CX-5.
