I purchased a 2025 Lexus NX 350 F this week. I am still learning how to control the 9.8” screen and agree once the run flat tires need replacing I’m putting regular tires. I love the way it handles, the distance control, the great seats and the beauty. It’s a show stopper. Blacked out tires, ultra-white that glistens with black rear view mirrors. The heads-up display is amazing. It takes some time to learn all it has to offer but I purchased at a great dealership who is tutoring me.

The NX is its segment leader, especially with the hybrid. The plug-in brings some inconveniences, being closer to a BEV (the lack of reliability and the high TCO included). Lexus is #1 in reliability, #3 in low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), longevity etc. thus also a resale value champion. Btw, the electric clunkers are the LEAST RELIABLE cars according to Consumer Reports annual reliability survey and with the highest TCO (huge when you also change the battery), while the hybrids are the MOST RELIABLE cars and having the lowest TCO - I can give a minor confirmation on this: I have a Lexus hybrid and I had 0 issues (not even recalls) in 5 years and a surprisingly low TCO (despite applying an excessive maintenance, changing the oil/filter every 5k miles etc.).

I've been a happy red NX350h owner for about a year. I completely agree that it's a little small compared to the RX. However, the front of NX looks much better than the new RX. With the same engine set up along with a little more room, it would cost $10,000 USD more. If I had really cared about the space in the first place, I should have gotten the TX instead. Since I'm single now, I'm happy to have a better-looking and less common NX over the RX. Hensley, different colors of NX do seem to make the car look totally different.

Overpriced is relative to the perceived value of money. The fact is the money has far less value than people believe, being printed like crazy, with nothing valuable to back it. Toyota/Lexus increased the prices just like most good producers did, because there is value in their cars (#1 in both reliability and low TCO - Total Cost of Ownership), making them a no-brainer choice (new or used) for smart people.
@ctclardy5 ай бұрын
@@codincoman9019 A well-grounded and reasoned rebuttal. And, I do realize the hyperinflation of recent years has a large part to play in the price increases but, so does corporate greed/profit, which I think both play a part in the outsized increases in prices. Yes, total cost plays a major role (Price paid - resale value) and Toyota remains the leader in that category. Yet, the average consumer still has to be able to purchase the vehicle for that to even come into play and so many more consumers have been left way behind in the new car market. Their salaries have not come close to keeping up, especially for many retirees.
@codincoman90195 ай бұрын
@@ctclardy Correct. The corporation's greed is there, but the price positioning for Toyota/Lexus (being #1 in reliability, low TCO, longevity, resale values etc.) is still better than that of their competitors. What we should never forget is that most of the price increases come from the governmental regulators dictating stupidly tighter rules, increasing the price of even a base car. Given all these, I still recommend the top, even second hand.

I think this nx with run flat tires are only worry free driving when your area, not going away 80km or more, if you a flat tire, you can only run your car up to 80km maximum, you will be stucked on the side of the road waiting for mercy of other drivers to give you a lift and leave your car behind, especially if the temperature outside is -40 degrees celsius, it’s all because you don’t have a spare tire, and when it’s time to go back and tow your car, all parts of the car are almost gone, it’s cannibalized by others.

Suspect that it may be Ni Hydride. Exact measurement of the length of cargo space, seats up and down comparing it to Crown highly useful to include exact weights. Physical buttons for climate and Vol a huge plus worth emphasizing. Repair costs of Lexus vs Euros is speculation once an out of warranty repair is needed. Experience suggests that Lexus is not cheaper. Reliability is proven with Toyota and Lexus which is stellar, performance not so much, the new 8 speed auto needs emphasis and critique. BMW shines here. Seems Volvo has solved many of these issues if it proves reliable. Expensive though extremely well thought out offering.
