Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal. _Informing, Educating and Inspiring_ The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy. _Martin Tyner_ Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends. At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors. “One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.” Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator. He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years. “Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.” Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry. Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

So very sweet. Thank you. This reminded me of a long time ago when my dad came home one day with three tiny little cottontails. He'd been discing (plowing) a field and found them alone. He put them in an old slipper, and told us kids we weren't going to keep them . He just didn't want to leave them out overnight in that big open field. The cutest thing I recall is he asked my baby sister if she had a baby bottle for her doll?. She ran to get it, and we all watched him fill it with warm milk. Before he even attempted to try it out, like a pro, who had raised almost a half dozen kids, he tested the temperature on the inside of his forearm. He returned the babies to the field the next day and watched as the mama bunny was already waiting nearby. Thanks for the memory of how sweet our wildlife world is, and for people like you and my dad. RIP dad. 😊🙏❤

@@whitleeeeee Same, maybe it’s an Aussie thing to sniff out rabbit nests, my Luna found four in total and in the evening I put them back into their den but then when the morning came there were only two bunnies left. The mother is still around so hopefully she moved the two other bunnies but I have high doubts that she did and would just leave the other two behind. My brain is in wonder of how bunnies can even survive when the den is so shallow, can be easily found and accessed to by predators. Not to mention if the mother has multiple kits they can just crawl or hop right out of the shallow den that was made.

this is a long shot but i rlly hope someone responds. I have about 3 week old baby rabbit, ears perked, moving, drinking water, eating leaves, pooping and peeing. For the past few days i’ve kept her in a cat crate with a heating pad under with a towel to keep her warm etc. She’s eating and drinking perfectly fine, i’ve named her Millie…she has been getting comfortable around me and becoming a bit social, i’m wondering if i should be giving her kitten milk replacer. my dad says no but i want an answer from someone who knows what they’re doing. I’ve had her for about 5 days now and she doing really good

Several years ago, my dogs found a nest of baby cottontails. Called a local rescue, but they had very little success with raising them, and told me to move them to a secure place, within 20' of original nest, and mom would come back for them and move them to a new nest. I moved them inside a mesh fence where dogs had no access and used clumps of grass to build a little hiding nest. Checked the next day, and they were gone. Not sure if mom came and got them or a predator got them.

Rabbits have nests in the open where predators dont roam.
@lynnbetts43323 жыл бұрын
@@itsokaytobeclownpilled2519 There are many kinds of predators. Hawks do hunt in the open during the day, while owls do at night. Coyotes can't get inside my mesh fencing, but cats can jump. I have bobcats and jaguarundi. And I also have rat snakes that are 5'-6' long. This nest was in overgrown rye grass, which was 18" tall, and the mom burrowed in at the base. I took clumps of that rye grass, with roots, and formed a new 'nest' with grass tops overhead to make a sort of tunnel, facing away from the fence.
