I've heard of a lot of people using silicone lube on their scars because it's cheaper? Does this work or will it be bad?

I really wanted to have you, Dr. Mosser, as my surgeon. Sadly my insurance will only cover the San Diego County area as I am from San Diego County. Is there a way to kinda, make an exception or is it set and stone? I really believe you are the best surgeon for such a procedure within my state. ☺️

Do you have any advice for scars that have risen and got thick after surgery. I believe hispanic genetics might have played a role in my scarring.

Great question! It's hard to answer this precisely as I'm not sure how long many days post-op you are so I'll answer to preventative and corrective scar care. It's best to speak with your surgeon so they can perform an in-person analysis to determine which treatments are necessary. Below are treatments that Dr. Mosser utilizes at his practice as needed. PREVENTION: For patients that are very concerned with their scar appearance, have darker skin tones, or have had thickened scars in the past than we recommend Mechanical Scar Reduction Therapy (by Embrace). These patches are worn the first 8 weeks after surgery CORRECTION: 1) Kenalog Steroid Injection: Reduces inflammation that leads to widened, thickened scars. Performed in office starting 3 months post-op and repeated as needed every 4-6 weeks 2) Broad Band Light: Reduces pink/red colored scars due to increased vascularity. Performed in office starting 3 months post-op and repeated as needed every 4-6 weeks 3) Micropen: Reduces raised texture and promotes collagen production of new, smoother skin tissue. Performed in office starting 3 months post-op and repeated as needed every 4-6 weeks

So helpful! Just got TS last Friday 11/06/2020. My incisions are closed very tight still as I’m only a week in but there is a teenie tiny gap on my left incision. It’s hardly noticeable but I’m wondering if that is from mechanical force and if it will turn into something bigger or close back up if I restrict my movement to almost zero w my arms. I had a double incision procedure.

Your surgeon is going to be the best resource for you, so please contact their office and make sure you share this information with them as well! Dr. Mosser highly recommends that limited movement will lead to smaller, and more fine incision scars, so essentially yes, restricting your movement could play a role in your healing process, and is difficult to share a definite response without a virtual consultation. I just realized that I'm going to have to get used to taking off my shirt in a different way. Usually I just reach behind my back and pull it over my head but that's not gonna be possible post op😅
