The Pulsar is Nissan’s family hatchback addition to the market - filling a slot in the carmaker’s range that hasn’t been occupied since the Almera.
As with all other hatchback competitors, practicality and comfort are key. However, class-leaders like the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf offer superior driving-dynamics and performance.
With that in mind, Nissan has introduced a slightly hotter version of the Pulsar, with a punchier DIG-T petrol engine.

We bought one in July this year and we love it. The space is unbelievable and the power and performance is great. We toured France and Spain and did 4500 miles in seven weeks and it was a pleasure to drive. We averaged about 44mpg which included a lot of local driving and A roads. The satnav worked perfectly and we brought a lot of stuff back (mainly wine). I have had over 15 company cars in my time and this car is the best. It is not a hot hatch (I didn't want one) but it does get down the road quickly without shaking all your fillings out and is great on the motorway and driving through the Pyranees was a doddle.

+John Baxendale Thanks for your reply! I'm thinking of buying one myself. I'm now driving the 1.6 DIg-T Juke and i'm looking for a more practical, economical and comfortable car and to my opinion the 1.6 DIG-T Pulsar has it all. Hope to get one within a couple of months :) Enjoy your Pulsar!

It has the Renault Clio sport 190bhp engine. Nissan owned 40% of Renault at the time so more Nissan than Renault. Still own it now and still a great car.

I've put down a deposit on a 7 year old one with 36000 on the clock. I haven't driven it yet, but it looks like my kind of car. I like that Tekna trim, too.

I had an Audi A3 1.8 TFSI. Things kept going wrong with it and it was expensive to repair. I was looking for a Japanese car as I previously had Honda Civics which were extremely reliable. The current Civics and slightly older ones look ridiculous and are underpowered unless you shell out for a Type R. I needed a warm hatch for a bit of extra power and lots of bells and whistles. Also practical, economical and spacious. This ticked all the boxes and I found one with 36000 and a full service history on a 65 plate. Early days but I'm quite enjoying it. My experiences in Nissan's are learning to drive in a dull Almera and a track day GTR which was thrilling.

Its not offence looking but cant help think they could have went a little more in terms of styling, seats and a little more individual interior additions, i would still take the Cee'd GT tech of this though.

I'm on my second pulsar, wonderful car - except both (diesel) cars had an intermittent fault, sometimes it just will not accelerate beyond half throttle. The following day it would be as right as rain, and may run for weeks with no problems, then out of the blue it would play up again and will run poorly for the rest of the time I continue to drive it, the following day it is fine again. Cut a long story short Nissan had the car in for a week but failed to find the problem, but still charged me £250 quid. And yes they did do a forced regeneration of the cat'

I think they have a small child detection alarm, it might be going off when you're driving close to verges or something?
