#BigTech is coordinating and preparing to ban all rational dissenting voices on a single move: 1) BigTech will ban all conseratives from social media. 2) Browsers will block you from connecting to conservative news/social websites. 3) Non-approved apps, will stop working. 4) You won't be able to install any non-approved browsers/apps on Windows, Android nor Apple.

Conservative was always about freedom and liberty, the conservation of the principles and institutions that both gave and protected them. Its about the value of things that worked and individual rights when linked with responsibility. The difference is where before the arguments where mostly about economics, the left claiming to help people by giving them free stuff, Conservatives more focus on try to give opportunity and incentive to help themselves. Its now become about culture and values and the economics mask has slipped its almost gone back to the pre ww2 position where left is about collectivism state control and group vs group and now feelings the right remains focused on the individual and facts. The Conservative believes you have a right to speak and disagree the collectivist believes you must conform and obey because they know best and are morally superior. The last century had shown us where that usually leads and its not good. The biggest issue now is the consensus that the optimal place to be was near the centre with a balance of both has been broken. How did it happen I can only give my opinions. When Marxism failed they had to switch to something else to stay relevant, second while the Conservatives focused on economics the collectivist left went from culture unchallenged and each time they won a victory they went for the next and the next moving further left unchallenged until here we are. As for being married with kids it's true it really does change your perspective. When your young single and free revolution protests and attacking the systems fun and exciting it gives you a purpose. When you grow up and have kids, peace, stability, safety and predictability become much more valuable. Perhaps the reason the west is so screwed is we have generations of over grown babies that don't grow up until they're much older.

Sometimes it helps to wait a few days, but this time this problem seems to be sticky, seeing that your comment is from six days ago, and Johnny D is from four days ago. Zuby mate, you hit the nail on the head re the inversion of political ideas that the left and right 'own'. In particular for me the pandemic seemed to exacerbate this, or at least I noticed this interesting thing happening, although I couldn't actually verbalise it. I've always been strongly embedded to freedom, freedom of speech and self expression and individual autonomy - effectively liberalism. Yet the modern left is antithetical to those ideals. Hugely ironic and deeply concerning. The modern left are the 'wolf in the sheep's clothing.'

On what divides us broadly as a dichotomy. I think you can sum it up as "People who wish the world was a certain way" VS "People who know how the world IS" in the idealistic sense. Take the current UK issue with Sarah, who was murdered by a cop and how its been twisted and warped into a feminist "man vs woman issue" Many are chiming up with "We shouldn't have to walk in fear" If you assess the statement for a moment it's couched in idealism, the idea they have a divine right not to be attacked. They shouldn't be attacked and i do wish it didn't happen- but it is just that,a wish- it will happen, just as men experience the vast majority of violent crime from other men. Human societal values are locked in a tug of war between the way the world is and the way some wish the world to be and right now i'd say its leaning in the favor "the way they wish it was", hence all the "People who menstruate" and so on....

I think it's mostly impossible for "news" to be non-partisan, except when it comes to covering broad, large-scale events. Think of it this way: everyday thousands of potential news stories happen. As a news network, which of them do you choose to cover? Obviously, you want to choose the ones that increase the number of viewers, so already you're biased towards sensational stories. But even among the sensational ones, which do you cover? You probably choose stories that support your political beliefs, or the political beliefs of your viewers. So if you're progressive, and you've got a story about a white police officer shooting an unarmed black man, you definitely want to cover that story. If you're conservative, and you've got a story about an illegal immigrant going on a crime-spree, you definitely want to cover that story. So ultimately, the very fact that you have to choose which stories to cover (or which stories make the front-page headlines) makes it almost impossible to avoid being partisan. Selecting the news is itself a partisan filter. I think this is the main reason why liberals and conservatives don't even live in the same reality any more - the news they watch is presenting them with an entirely different set of events. There's obviously some overlap when it comes to large scale events like 9/11 or whatever, but on a day to day basis they are both seeing different events reported, events which are curated to fit in with an pre-existing narrative.

"Conservative and liberal labels have switched around" No, conservatives want to conserve the classical/social liberalism that became prevalent throughout all western nations over the past three decades, whereas liberals - as you aptly rename progressives - want to progress; change for the sake of change, even when the change is demonstrably evil (such as regressing back from enlightenment liberalism). As it so happens, change four generations ago was change for good. Today, conservatism means fighting to keep that good.

THE LEFT-RIGHT DICHOTOMY One of the fertile sources of confusion in discussions of ideological issues is the dichotomy between the political left and the political right. Perhaps the most fundamental difference between the left and the right is that only the former has even a rough definition. What is called “the right” are simply the various and disparate opponents of the left. These opponents of the left may share no particular principle, much less a common agenda, and they can range from free-market libertarians to advocates of monarchy, theocracy, military dictatorship or innumerable other principles, systems and agendas. To people who take words literally, to speak of “the left” is to assume implicitly that there is some other coherent group which constitutes “the right.” Perhaps it would be less confusing if what we call “the left” would be designated by some other term, perhaps just as X. But the designation as being on the left has at least some historical basis in the views of those deputies who sat on the left side of the president’s chair in France’s Estates General in the eighteenth century. A rough summary of the vision of the political left today is that of collective decision-making through government, directed toward-or at least rationalized by-the goal of reducing economic and social inequalities. There may be moderate or extreme versions of the left vision or agenda but, among those designated as “the right,” the difference between free market libertarians and military juntas is not simply one of degree in pursuing a common vision, because there is no common vision among these and other disparate groups opposed to the left-which is to say, there is no such definable thing as “the right,” though there are various segments of that omnibus category, such as free market advocates, who can be defined. The heterogeneity of what is called “the right” is not the only problem with the left-right dichotomy. The usual image of the political spectrum among the intelligentsia extends from the Communists on the extreme left to less extreme left-wing radicals, more moderate liberals, centrists, conservatives, hard right-wingers, and ultimately Fascists. Like so much that is believed by the intelligentsia, it is a conclusion without an argument, unless endless repetition can be regarded as an argument. When we turn from such images to specifics, there is remarkably little difference between Communists and Fascists, except for rhetoric, and there is far more in common between Fascists and even the moderate left than between either of them and traditional conservatives in the American sense. A closer look makes this clear. Communism is socialism with an international focus and totalitarian methods. Benito Mussolini, the founder of Fascism, defined Fascism as national socialism in a state that was totalitarian, a term that he also coined. The same idea was echoed in the name of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party in Germany, Hitler’s party, now almost always abbreviated as Nazis, thereby burying its socialist component. Viewed in retrospect, the most prominent feature of the Nazis-racism in general and anti-Jewish racism in particular-was not inherent in the Fascist vision, but was an obsession of Hitler’s party, not shared by the Fascist government of Mussolini in Italy or that of Franco in Spain. At one time, Jews were in fact over-represented among Fascist leaders in Italy. Only after Mussolini became Hitler’s junior partner in the Axis alliance of the late 1930s were Jews purged from Italy’s Fascist party. And only after Mussolini’s Fascist government in Rome was overthrown in 1943, and was replaced by a rump puppet government that the Nazis set up in northern Italy, were Jews in that part of Italy rounded up and sent off to concentration camps. In short, official and explicit government racist ideology and practice distinguished the Nazis from other Fascist movements. What distinguished Fascist movements in general from Communist movements was that Communists were officially committed to government ownership of the means of production, while Fascists permitted private ownership of the means of production, so long as government directed the private owners’ decisions and limited what profit rates they could receive. Both were totalitarian dictatorships but Communists were officially internationalist while Fascists were officially nationalist. However, Stalin’s proclaimed policy of “socialism in one country” was not very different from the Fascists’ proclaimed policy of national socialism. Intellectuals and Society by Dr Thomas Sowell

If I meet someone on the street and we exchange $1 bills and then separate, then we both still leave with only $1. But if I meet someone and we exchange ideas and then separate, then we both leave with two ideas.

34:20 interesting he brings up minimum wage. I've heard that in this election (here in the Netherlands) as well. While it's goal is always noble, it's result is always the same, you end up destroying the jobs of those you're trying to help coz well, you get too expensive for an employer to be able to function, so like clockwork whenever you see policy implementation of minimum wage rise you always see employers shedding employees and automatisation to compensate for the rising costs.

Who would you recommend to listen to from the left-side of the spectrum? I find it really hard to listen to emotional manipulation and I'm prejudiced in the sense that I expect almost nothing but that from the left.

That is what scared me about Jordan Peterson, recognizing his impact without making him more than he his. If you value the intellectual capacity of anybody you need to keep that balance in the end. Yes they may be brilliant but in the end they are human people.

Oh I hate that story. galileo was not persecuted for saying the sun was the center of the solar system. He was reprimanded for teaching his theory as fact when his colleagues at the time were still debating his data. For example he was not able to explain why if the earth was moving we didn't see the stars moving relative to one another (think trees as you drive). He was told to stop teaching it as fact said he would then continued and added insults to the pope at the time. This is the equivalent to someone teaching string theory saying all other completing theories are wrong and then after being told to make it clear it was a theory insulting the dean. Then being put on leave with pay.

This would have been a great discussion had I not been bombarded with adverts every two minutes interrupting the flow and generally causing great annoyance. Please bear this in mind for future Zuby, such a shame as it is so off putting and makes it an unpleasant listening experience - Ads are fine but not to that extent!

I don't think that people realise that KZbin places the ads, not the creators... If you don't like ads, then you can get KZbin Premium or listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc. - fanlink.to/zubypodcast
