Carl Cox and his BMW E30 Alpina B6 3.5

This is the story of DJ Carl Cox’s unique BMW E30 Alpina B6 3.5, one of the most exclusive and best handling sports cars of the 80s. This E30 was originally ordered with a 2.8 litre engine but was later converted into a 3.5 by Alpina at the request of its first owner, who wanted the ultimate expression of Alpina’s B6.
The BMW E30 was hard to top, with the original M3 widely considered one of the best cars BMW ever made. Alpina’s recipe for the E30 was a 3.5 litre straight six engine, a new differential, exhaust and induction system as well as revised suspension. The Alpina B6 makes more power and torque than the E30 M3 but remains utterly composed and refined on the road.

Tom Walkinshaw Racing built 3 of these cars in RHD. Tom used car 1 as his own, it was silver KHR 792X. Tiff Needell road tested it at the time, it can be found online. I owned it in 1988 and advertised it in Autosport the week after Le Mans in the hope the TWR Jaguar would win the race. They did & I successfully sold the ar [at 300% profit] Car 2 was red and suffered a crash and was burnt out. Car 3 was also sliver. Both silver cars are undergoing resto when I last heard. Your car is stunning, congrats.
