I’ve seen him in 5/6 interviews be asked about the Smith loss and in every one it’s clear his shoulder wasn’t right but he still credits Callum Smith and doesn’t make excuses. I’ve got a lot of respect for that. Humble dude, no agenda who along with Froch paved the way for the likes of Joshua and co to have Wembley as even an option. 👍

George always comes across as a sensitive, cerebral, thoughtful person who really understood and wrestled with the complexities of what it means to be a boxer. Wish him a long and happy retirement. His fights were always very watchable - and the win against De Gale was a particular highlight.

I'm gutted he's retiring. Such an honest bloke. The first fight with Froch was masterclass; one of very few fights I've watched multiple times. I have to admit I agree with Froch though. He was never the same fighter after the second loss. The situation with Adam Booth didn't help either. So pleased he's retiring as a champ but his talent was really squandered by three people. Booth, Foster and Fitzpatrick.
