Actually, it's not too far off. The US Military has been testing guided munitions for the Carl Gustaf (designated as the M3 MAAWS) that can engage targets up to two kilometres away using a laser guidance technology, which I presume would be similar in operation to a BGM-71 TOW missile. These munitions, if development is succesful, would be much more cost effective compared to Javelin missiles which costs around 80.000$ for each missile launched.

@@whiskeyyy5746 TOW missiles use fly-by-wire for guidance, meaning a long wire is tied onto the back of the missile and it unravels as it continues down range when fired. The M3 MAAWS has the ability to use programmable rounds though, which would be similar to how the XM25 airburst launcher would work, where you can calibrate the range of your target and then program the round to detonate right when it goes above the targets head for instance. I think what you are talking about are the laser designated munitions they are developing, where they are similar to guided missiles but they require an external laser designator to paint the target for the missile to lock onto, similar to how modern militaries would laser designate an area for airstrikes. Nothing like in videogames though where you just point the scope reticle at the target and the missile follows it

For everyone's kind information Carl Gustaf rocket launchers require at least 2 persons to operate, not saying that 1 man can't do this( we are talking about video games) but 2 men are highly recommended for that job

Even it is an actual recoilless weapon, there's still recoil in firing, but probably it's weak. Presumably, None of the recoilless weapons are 100% recoilless

It has recoil, but most of it gets vented off the back of the launcher. But that doesn't mean it suddenly becomes a fully accurate laserbeam with no felt physical recoil. This thing still kicks. Although, you wont have to worry about getting launched ten meters back because as I said, most of it gets vented off the back of the launcher.

@@fynii9478 Someone has read a phyisics book i see. Too bad "recoilless" refers to the fact that there is very little felt recoil since the weapon uses part of the propellant's explosion to counteract that reaction.

It’s interesting how many games have the Gustav fire a rocket of some kind rather than what it’s technically supposed to fire. Tank shells. I feel that’s always been the charm of the Gustav in games, it’s not just another rocket launcher, it’s a cannon, and obliterating someone with an 83mm HEAT round just hits different than blowing someone up with an RPG

These things are so satisfying to fire IRL. It's a two person weapon with a loader and a shooter. The concussion when you pull the trigger empties your sinuses. Pretty accurate too with some practice.

The casings aren’t that hot, that’s how you’re supposed to do it. You push down on the Venturi Locking Lever after you’ve swung the Venturi out of the way, which pushes the round out slightly so that you can grab it out.

I fucking loved this launcher in Far Cry 5. It made all those "Take out X Targets which move infrequently around the Map, and respawn every ten minutes" missions so much better. I swear to God, trying to perfectly anticipate where Jacob's choppers would come from drove me insane.

Bad Company 2, a 10 year old game and the sound of the rocket impact has a slight delay to the visible explosion due to distance and speed of sound traveling. compared to far cry 5 coming out 8 years after BC2 and there is no delay between explosion and sound. its the little things that make videogames so great.

I think I've only seen one game get the reload on these correct. What do I mean? The rim of the ctridge is bascially flush with the tube, so "plucking" it out is difficult. One of lugs you see on the back of it is not only to keep the flange from moving, but when the flange is open, it doubles as an extractor. The only game I've seen actually make use of it is Generation Zero.

Recoil of this weapon is vary. Normal munitions makes no back fire and no recoil but modern munitions adding back fire and a bit of a recoil like in theese games.

Isn't the entire idea with recoilless launchers that they basically fire an artillery projectile, just a metal shell with explosives inside, but let most of the blast out the back to counteract the kick you'd normally get from firing an artillery shell? Why is it that in games they always seem to fire full on rockets complete with guidance and stuff?

@@bismarcksama4098 Half-life 1 uses an Armbrust as a reference for the guided rocket launcher while Half-Life 2 uses an inverted Saab-Bofors AT-4 or something like that with FIM-92 Stinger grips. None of the mentioned Anti-Tank weapons I've mentioned can have laser-guided rockets; these aforementioned weapons were heavily modified with features that shouldn't work in comparison with real counterparts

@@cyng6734 that's campaign mode tho also there's no BTR in BC2, you're thinking of the BMD-3 (the paratrooper version of the BMP-2), which takes 4-5 shots to kill in multiplayer too
