The anima and animus are two essential archetypes of Carl Jung's theories. they reside in the unconscious just like the shadow and just as with the shadow they both need to be integrated into one's personality to achieve one's full potential and become "whole".

I have been studying Jung for some time now and I find his conception of the structure of the psyche quite valid for the most part. The pharmacological approach to treating mental disorders, however, has overshadowed that of the much more relevant and meaningful analytical psychology, or psychotherapy in general, for that matter.
@PersonalPower
@PersonalPower 3 жыл бұрын
True it has overshadowed it but to be fair the pharmacological approach has its place too. If the two would be a littlw more balanced that would be great

@@PersonalPower Yes, and I'm not saying drugs have no place in treating mental disorders. As you said, there needs to be some balance. Not all depression cases, for instance, have a neurotransmitter-related bases. This is especially true for personally disorders. In the dynamic world of today everyone is looking for a quick fix. Take this pill and go about your work.

Trying to understand the changes I've gone through within the last few months. This makes the most sense to me. I grew up being raised by my mother, grew up very out of touch with my emotions. Even the phases of the anima click with my recent experience. Younger years I was more focused on the sexual aspect, then it did transform into a more romantic style. As of right now, I feel a lot of things clicking in my life. Things are finally working in my head. I feel that kind of wisdom I dreamed of but never knew how to achieve it. I think I indeed got to a place where I integrated both my shadow and anima in a way that changed my life forever. Still trying to unpack all that has happened to me, and I hope this unique feeling of release and expression lasts.

@@Verschlimmbesserung I was completely full of shit with myself 10 months ago. What really allowed me to achieve it later on was having a near-death experience, falling in love with myself, then to learn everything about the human psyche the inhibits people. These days, a lot of the inhibitors are in the form of social media and pornography. All things that keep you from being human and continue being robotic. What I went through I wouldn't dare wish on my worst enemies but, one day they just might. Not to the same extent though.

It's kinda funny, my Animus always said "learn to make yourself aware, you don't have to make the others aware." I think he has a point because lately I've seen a lot of people who often speak and act without thinking about the consequences, it results they have to eat their own words and accept the consequences of their own actions. as it is written in the Bible: "dogs return to their vomit and pigs wallow in their own excrement".

My masculinity is very undeveloped as I have felt paralyzed in life. My anima is so loving and the emotions of even love I feel are so intense sometimes I chose not to feel. Even when I’m happy it’s too intense. I just now realized that my action in the physical world will help develop my masculinity in order to handle this anima I’m so happy this is understood in me now. If I never understood this Idk if I would have moved to action. We all must treat her right. I never liked myself of felt worth anything. Now it’s not about me in my mind it’s easier to do Somthing for Someone ells rather then myself but now I feel I am working for the happiness of a women who I truly love. Even if I am single in real life it helps me feel that I am going to do work in this life for her. This is amazing transformative knowledge.

I met her in a dream when I was 22. She was sitting at the top of staircase of a pool surrounded by Roman architecture. Her feet and halfway up her calves were in the water. I fell in love with her and when I woke, I was depressed and sad. I wrote a song about her 2 years ago when I was 47 and shortly after writing it, I met a woman who fit the description of the lyrics I wrote. She ended up being a witch and now I've been miserably ill for the last 21 months. I automatically wrote this song and am convinced that this deception was preordained. Test the spirits my friend, Satan appears as an angel of light. SOPHIA. She's like an angel in the night. I only see her in my dreams. When I'm dark, she's my light. She's like a candle in the breeze. She gives me everything I need. Than she takes my hand and leads me to her secret garden. Golden sunlight shines in her hair. Eyes of blue and skin so fair. When I close my eyes, She's always there... but when I wake up in the morning, than she's gone.

So an animus is like a dominant female correct?
@PersonalPower
@PersonalPower 3 жыл бұрын
The animus can result in women becoming dominant, but this is just a small amount of what the animus really. It is not limited to that since even very timid/shy feminine women have an animus. The animus itself is an unconscious part of the female psyche containing images and characteristics which are mainly built upon the father figure. These images can both be good and quite bad and they include much more aspects than just being dominant. For example the animus also occurs in how women perceive relationship partners. THe animus is an unconscious image that might be projected onto a partner, meaning the aspects and attributes are projected onto a partner and if the partner does not match these then things don't quite work out.

@PersonalPower
@PersonalPower 4 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I'm not an expert on all the varying symbols, after all it took Jung decades and thousands of dreams to get to his level of understanding. However, what I can say is that a single dream is not enough to make conclusions. Your unconscious is an ongoing process and so are your dreams, try to take a look at a series of dreams and how they develop as they are often connected on some level. Dreams are not necessarily independent from each other even though we dream them at different times. Additionally, making an accurate interpretation of a dream from one line of text is close to impossible. There are so many aspects that go into it, your upbringing, culture, current problems that you experience, personal information and so on and so forth. Sorry to not be of more help, but the truth is that interpreting dreams is probably a very hard task, if not an art.

I'll try (maybe there's something that clicks, if nothing resonates just dismiss my thory xD). Maybe is the anima chasing the guy, because is also mother nature (that what seleccts, the judge) an so is on fire because the judge iluminates that what you are not (your shortcomings) and that what you could become; the boy runs because he is not prepared to face all his mistakes, shortcomings, etc. because admitin to it means responsability and is painful. Another theory is an oedipal situation in with the overly protecting mother persecutes the son, the fire is light all what is known (safe) so the mother protecs in a patological way the eternal son (because you need to confront the unknow, the shadow to be a man). The son just whants to get away of the patological overprotection, as far as he can, into the unknow. Just a though

When I was young my parents were both very good figures in my life until around 8-9 Then i had a special needs sister and they let the stress get the best of them and just became toxic and random and distant and they would flip 50/50 Nice to mean so the relationship became very confusing. My dad is distant now and my mom doesn’t watch what she says and is damaging with her words. Since my mom (and my dad) switched her “style” during such a developmental point in my childhood, i have Parts of good anima i can recall on (0-10yrs) and very bad (13-19yrs). Very hard to balance them. My bad anima is fighting really hard with the rigid assertive built in masculine side I have had for my life. Recently it’s been taking over:| This is so weird. It’s like I got given the wrong side of anima, and I’m trying to Repair it through positive female figures in my life (musical artists) & in female friends, as well as the same thing with my masculine side. Or maybe I’m just letting my overthinking mind get the best of my and I’m just too fucked up idk. it’s really confusing sorry

I'd say clearing things up with your parents and discussing how that change affected you may be a good idea, but then again that does depend upon the willingness/openness of your parents. If you feel like a negative side is already taking over then professional help may also be an idea. I'm always happy to listen if someone has problems, but really helping without being in person etc. is quite difficult.

Taking initiative, being courageous and being determined and being creative - do NOT belong only to the animus. It belong to the anima too, but is expressed in a different way. Honestly, creativity is even more in the terrain of the anima than of the animus. Those statements you've stated aren't statments, and they're part of what caused men to hate women for YEARS. So be aware of the things you're saying, or you will be seen as a schauvinist, because you literally belittle women, the anima and its power & qualities.

@@PersonalPower Yes, but then this general theory of anima/ animus doesn't quite apply. As not identifying neither female nor male, I feel I have both.

Päivi Katariina Savolainen Anima and Animus are beyond male and female, because male and female are sexes but Anima and Animus are unconscious representations of masculinity and femininity. You can identify as any gender you want and display a robust form of masculinity and you can also display a soft expression of femininity. Does that make sense?

There is absolutely nothing introspective about women. What on earth is this guy talking about? You should have absolutely no business disseminating information of this nature.

Carl Jungs theories can certainly be quite controversial but that should not be a reason to not talk about them.

His English is fine. It's difficult also for me to have better accent because I don't have "musical talent". In general for people with musical talent is much easier to develop propper accent in foreign languages.

Meditations, letters from a stoic, the art of war, beyond good and evil, the prince, civilization and its discontents. If you are looking for the exact versions look up "penguin pocket hardbacks" or something along those lines.
