Quelle magnifique interprétation ! Quel chef talentueux ! sans oublier l'extraordinaire quatuor de cors (l'une des plus belles pages pour cet instrument ! ) du début (à 1:02). La réputation des musiciens tchèques n'est plus à faire. Déjà depuis le XVIIIe siècle la Bohème était surnommée "Conservatoire de l'Europe", c'est dire ... Et en plus le Freischütz de Weber se déroule dans ces forêts de Bohème, dont l'atmosphère doit certainement être coutumière et naturelle pour ces musiciens !

We finally make huge progress after WW2 except TWO major world nations, „powers“, missed the bus to liberal modernity, stayed with reactionary illiberal autocracy which is inherently antagonistic to democracy [hence Mr P invades Ukraine, appalling], above all because their their autocratic father knows best leaderships are scared stiff of the vote, of authentic exposure to the people’s consent through the democratic process. A "World Class Orchestra" who takes their music works seriously! I have a couple of C.M. von Weber's pieces in my classic collection. This guy can "sense stir" the soul in his compositions. You did well in this 2015 recording, Czech Philharmonic. And...at the famous Anton Dvorak Hall. Nice acoustics.

It's quite a distance to Kleiber's interpretation. The allegro has no fire at all. It sounds all much too held back. And when you watch both conductors in comparism, you realize why that is. Mr. Vrabec's body language is as timid as the music sounds.
