Tarkus was released in summer of 1971, 51 years ago. It is amazing that Palmer is still physically fit enough to play this song let alone an entire set and be able to tour. He looks good and obviously has many years left to play. Palmer is certainly one of the most distinct drummers of the progressive era.

Greg Lake and Keith Emerson were extraordinary musicians... its great to see Carl giving some young brave talanted lads a shot to play along on some VERY challenging material...damn well done if you ask me for such a hammering technical riff - well done indeed.

The most underrated drummer/percussionist ever. He is 70 yrs old here and is *still* one of the greatest drummers playing today. I will never understand why this man has never gotten the credit he deserves. I was just reading something today talking about how great of a drummer that Travis Barker is...are you kidding me. TB can't hold a candle to Carl Palmer.

@@dropdtune9199 But yet when you look at "top 100 greatest drummers of all time" he's usually not included. I think Drummer Mag had him at 50 last time I checked. I don't think he has ever been included in Rolling Stone Mag but yet Shelia E is there. IMO, he is easily in the top 10, if not top 5 of all time. It's mind boggling. And speaking of RSM, i just checked for the top 100 guitar players of al time and I don't even see Eric Johnson. You know, the man that played the greatest guitar solo ever. But yet there sit Eddie Van Halen at number 8. At least they included SVR at number 12, which is a complete joke. 🤦‍♀

Great to see C.Palmer back, one of the best drummers without doubt. Saw ELP in late 80's and while playing "Knife Edge" the power in the theater went out, everything pitch black. 5 minutes go by and like putting your needle back on a record on a turntable , ELP picked up right where "Knife Edge" stopped when the power failed. Needless to say it was a great show with original line up. ELP is iconic.

Anatolly, listen up amigo ... Mr.BuddyRich did IN FACT compliment the skills of Mr.CarlPalmer many many years ago. Buddy was asked if he admired the showmanship of any (then 1972) drummers playing progressive rock to which he acknowledged the prowess of Carl Palmer, Danny Seraphine, Phil Collins and even Mitch Mitchell. Buddy was impressed by all their skills at keeping to arrangements and their versatility. Buddy also remarked w appreciation for the fitness of each given the typical grueling schedules they all were contracted to uphold.

@@billbart6201 OK Bill, your remark makes me look at it a bit differently. From the height of today looking down at the rock scene in general, the prog rock drummers seem to be the cream of the crop. They can do any genre and moreover they have upgraded the art of drumming immensely. It has become a brand new chapter in the history of drumming, where Mr. Palmer along with some others is a top one. We can yap to eternity on the subject, but Collins, Bruford, White and the gang are the ultimate musicians in the field!

I grew up loving ELP and especially Carl in the early /mid 7O's and saw ELP 3 or 4 times back then. I also saw these guys a few years back and while it was interesting- I agree Carl needs keyboards and a bass player that can sing more like Greg. I talked with Carl briefly after the show and he was glad to see I brought my 24 year old son along. Took some good pics with him which he did only cause i was lazt in line to meet him and becuse my son was there. He still plays every drum note like he did 45 - 50 years ago. Us old ELP fans are just happy to see him playing - even if the sound at these small venue shows seems a little underwhelming...

Thank you for registering. I have always liked Carl Palmer very much. I wanted to see this video to 'know' about him. The quality of the recording or the original sound tires me a lot in listening. Patience. Unfortunately, one dies slowly inside before the last breath. Without disrespect for the two guitarists, I 'feel' that Keith and Greg are missing. I'm afraid Carl may suffer a lot more than me. But maybe the sad thoughts are mine alone. How much I loved Trilogy and Pictures. In addition to King Crimson. I was born in 1957. Elp made me dream. I saw him around 20 years ago. He was brilliant and had the same guitar and bass line up, though with different personnel. No vocals were employed. These players are doing an really incredible job of transposing the music, but for me, it just doesn't sound right. Personally, I feel he should find a good keyboard player and maybe a classical style (female?) vocalist. Just a point of view. Everyone's a critic! I just hope he goes on playing for many more years.

I saw CP say in an interview that he didn’t feel right bringing a keyboard player in to cover the material. I took that to mean that he has too much respect for the original music as it was recorded and instead took it upon himself to reimagine the songs with the guitar trio line up.

So I guess all the comments are gonna be positive. Carl sounds great but I'm not feeling the other two. He needs better back up.

Love ELP and Carl but his drumming always seem stiff and mechanical. Very little groove.

Respect to the musicians, especially Carl but without the keyboards, this doesn't do it for me.
