@@Volker_GR Hi Volker ! Yeah, maybe. I refer the regular mag on paper version. But the Reader poll and jounalist poll are changing year by year , and generation by generation..... Here’s the fact obviously: CP is a freakin master drummer. Met him in 1988. Got to hang out with him a couple hours. He was doing a project called “Three” then. He was like an old friend and kind, thoughtful and shared many aspects of drumming and we focused on Paiste pies then. He personally hand-selected a 3000 Ride for me and a pair of 14” color sound 5 black hi hat pies. He then autographed a big poster on a recording project I produced for Riley Childrens Hospital in Indpls. I still own those magical pies- my favs of all time and that poster is framed in my studio. I am thankful, humbled by Carl in so many ways. He is as great a human being as he is an Incredible musical artist. Thank you Carl for all you are and do here. He puts a smile on my face anytime I see a vid capture of his artistry in motion. Drum on. Take care all. D

I was fortunate to see Carl at one the earliest MD festivals at Montclair college in the late 80’s. Saw literally the first 10 years or so being that I was somewhat local and I can say without a doubt he was one of the best performers ever to play those festivals. It was when he was a REMO endorser and had those “spokes” within his kit and just made them sing. Wish someone had that on video.

i saw him at a drum clinic with Danny Carry. They were promoting Paiste Drums. The drums were bored out of large chunks of the alloy metal used in creating cymbols. They were so powerful and just projected right through you. His solo was unbelievable. It was a shame though, as it seemed most of the crowd was there to see Carrey. He almost had to beg for applause as no one really new who he was. Danny saw this from the side of the stage and came out to the side of him playing, laid back on his hands and watched, cheered and showed him great admiration at everything he was doing- got the crowd into it. After their solos and at the end of the night, both gave me their autographs. I will never forget when i went to Danny Carry and had my snare head with all the members of Metalica's signatures on it. He looked at it and said "who are these guys?" Priceless

Having seen Emerson, Lake & Palmer live in Toronto pushing their debut album, I was blown away by Carl Palmer's chops then. During the 1970s, I saw the band a half-dozen times, when the shows became more bombastic, with Palmer on the huge riser that rotated. But his playing was still superb. Now, all these decades later, he's grown as a musician who can play almost any style. And those rudimentary chops and show-biz bits like playing one drumstick against another continue to dumbfound me -- not to mention the double-bass parts. What an amazing senior citizen!
