How on earth does this song only have 35k views? Carl was really enjoying himself, and Tom and the Heartbreakers were absolutely RIPPING

With Tom Petty. While playing with a trio outside in Gloucester MA years ago, I met Carl's road manager. He requested some Perkins and we obliged with "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Honey, Don't". He affirmed what a humble, great guy Carl was, and he told some stories. He gave us each a Carl Perkins guitar pick, which I have to this day. :) Rave on, children!

I live one mile from Carl's long time home and having grown up in the same town, he was somebody you saw regularly. He was a personable man who pretty much everybody loved. It still blows my mind to this day how famous he was world wide, and how many iconic musicians revered him.

garstigesopossum, If you're listening in stereo, Carl Perkins is the lead guitar in the left speaker and Mike Campbell is the lead guitar in the right speaker.

"I walked up to the window. I said, 'Gimme a ticket please.' She said, 'Boy, where you goin'?' I said, 'That's all right with me.'" I *love* that lyric.

Man! Heard this on Tom Petty Radio today and can't stop listening... This car in this video reminds me so much of the interior of my first car too... Oldsmobile Omega. Thanks for posting this all those years ago!

however, this is simply fantastic, even better than Carl's own 1960's version of the song. Thanks for sharing this great recording!

I have this album, and it's splendid. The only thing missing from this song given that intro is Jerry Reed saying "Aw son!"

Jerry Reed was a mind bending great guitarist. I love the videos of he and Chet Adkins dueling.

@quikfax I bet you Jerry Reed and Carl Perkins jamming up there in heaven backed by the Tennessee Two and Billy Lee Riley taking on the drums.
