I thinks is also mostly to make a better viewer experience, By the comments that that other girl makes it seems she really started "enjoying life" after she started to like their biological dad, and also she always said how being an idol was fun for her... So yeah, most of her good memories were with her kids but definitely a viewer oriented visual representation. The attack resulted in changes to police policy and the law when it comes to online stalking and threats. However, a member of idol group 22/7 went on hiatus a couple of weeks ago due to a stalker. So there is more work to be done.

This is horrible. The entertainment companies have taken it too far with making it appear that idols are only for their fans, pure / innocent and all that. By preventing the idols to live a normal life or at least strictly censuring all information about their non-idol life, they have created a false romanticised version for the fans. There are lonely people out there, this is the perfect escapism for them to have a virtual relationship, and some of them end up with obsessive behavioural traits. In other countries or cultures, fans realise the boundaries between them and the performer, they respect the art. But idol culture is completely a different level of immersion, creating obsessive fans ready to ensure captive profits. This ks a dangerous ballgame.

Re: the crazed fan: it wasn't just the address, either. He had a bunch of information that wasn't public knowledge. When he showed up at the hospital, he knew that Ai was there and that she was pregnant, and he knew her full name, which was never made public. Later, when he killed her, he knew the address of her new apartment, and he knew that she had children (plural). Aqua is right: someone was feeding him information, and it had to be someone that knew all of Ai's secrets. Ai's manager and his wife would have known all of that stuff, but what's their motive? Ai was their star idol. The father is probably that only other person who had all of that information.

Most series of this genre tend to follow a self-insert isekai protagonist (usually dying to a stray truck) in a fantasy world of swords and magic, often with a harem. That, or a parody of the aforementioned genre. Oshi no Ko may be an isekai, but an isekai is the last thing ONK is about. 38:55 "Wonder if he's sad about her, or it's business." The former, he poured one out for her in her memory right there. The same drink that he promised her they would have together after she finished her dome concert, which would also have been when she reaches the legal drinking age. The show has much more depth into Japanese culture than what we are used to as Western audiences. Idols cannot break the rules, getting prego at 16 is one of those unspoken rules that Idols cannot break because you don't want to encourage single parenting and sex before you are even an adult (regardless of your or my personal opinion on this issue, its clear some behavior is not supposed to be glorified, see American modern culture for reference).

Ahh great reaction guys! I'm really glad you picked this show up, might be AOTY for me so far! Also great cover as always Ange! Like you guys said, it really shocked me how they made us so attached to Ai's lovable character in one episode and then killed her off in such tragic way. I think there's really something to be said about how despite being a self proclaimed "misanthrope" who didn't know how to love, Ai was probably the most loving and selfless character in the entire show. She tried to constantly meet the expectations of everyone in the idol industry who only used her as a commodity for their own self interests rather than caring about Ai the human being. And even before that she grew up in a loveless and abusive family. The whole reason that Ai never learned how to love was because she was used as a tool by everyone around her. And when she finally had her children, who Ai finally realized that she truly loved as she's dying, she never had the chance to live and grow with them as the happy family that she wanted. And the sad thing is that this is actually based off of real stories in Japan. There have been multiple cases of idols being stalked and even murdered by so called "super fans". There is a culture of unhealthy possessiveness that some fans tend to have with these public figures. I'm super happy that Aka (the author of the manga) is bringing the danger of these parasocial relationships with entertainers which a very real problem in our world to light with this show! Btw, if you are re watching the music video, try to watch it with the english subtitles as well if you can! I think you'll find it very insightful! Looking forward to more reactions! :)

Hey just wanted to mention smth since i just realized, but the subtitles seem to vary depending on the streaming website you use. I personally liked the crunchyroll version better at time, since the vocabulary of the doctor is somehow more fitting, like in the moment when he asked the producer to adopt him, on crunchyroll he says: "Would you consider raising me?" which is a better wording in my opinion than: "Do you want to raise me?. I know it's probably a pretty small detail, but i just noticed while watching the reactions, that the subtitltes seem to be different in some scenes. This episode brought emotions out of me that I can only feel from top tier media. I've been oversaturated with Isekai (reborn in another world) anime, so I thought that being reborn as an Idol's child was gonna be a misdirect. And the fact that it wasn't actually surprised me cuz they kept that gig up for a longer time than Isekai's normally would. Also learning that Ruby was in fact Sarina gave me questions cuz if someone else gets isekai'd in that genre it's at the same time. This season is a treat to watch, and I've actually picked up things after completing it that were foreshadowed in this first episode by rewatching it with you.
