For the basement, my advice is live in the house for 6 months to a year before you do anything down there (aside from maybe the bathroom). We bought a house with an unfinished basement, and I thought I knew EXACTLY what I wanted down there, but after living in the house for a while, my idea of what I wanted changed and I'm so glad I didn't jump and go with my first plans because it would have totally ruined the new ones :)

Carla Cauntay Sure! I was actually going to put in a half bath (so just sink and toilet) and then put in a fourth bedroom, a mudroom, a tiny laundry room and use the rest of the space as a movie room. Well, after living with just one bathroom upstairs that has a tub surround, I realized we wanted a walk in shower, so that will now go downstairs and it will be a full bathroom instead, maybe even with a large standalone tub. I haven't completely decided that part yet. And we NEVER use the basement entrance, so the mudroom is nixed to make room for the full bath, and the bedroom (that would never be used) will be turned into an art studio instead. Oh, and the tiny laundry room will be a full sized one with room for a folding station and a laundry tub. So the only thing that essentially stayed the same was the "movie room", but even that has changed shape slightly. But I'm so glad I didn't jump on the original plans, because now I'd be downstairs ripping it apart again (and cursing! lol)

Going through chemotherapy is absolutely the hardest thing I've ever had to do and my husband and I are also raising our two children, a 16 yr old boy and a 10 yr old girl and that's not even close to easy to do. All that being said, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do for so many people on a regular basis and you probably don't even realize it sometimes. Your videos as well as Shay's bring me such joy and inspiration and the smiles n laughs make it a lil easier to get through treatment. What you do truly means so very much to me and so many others and more than you'll ever know. I genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know my comment is a bit late but being so sick most of the time I usually have to play catch up on all my KZbin vids. Congrats on your beautiful house!! I'm sure you and Cooper are going to just love it!! It seems like the perfect place for you both and I'm sure your glad to finally have a place of yours that you own, not rent, that you can finally call HOME!! If it was my house I would probably put the tv on the wall, that way you could have the couch facing the tv and you could also put a nice comfy chair by the fireplace for reading or relaxing by the fire so it would make it seem like its own little space. and a big family portrait would look stunning above the fireplace. Im so happy for you! You deserve to be happy and you look like you're on top of the world!! I can't wait to see how you decorate and put your personality in the decorating! With the extra basement area you should make a section called the "stock closet" where you keep like extra tissue, laundry detergent, paper towels ect., for when it snows and you guys get trapped in the house you have to risk your life to get tissue all you have to do is go down stairs and go to the stock closet.
