I think everyone (not necessarily italian) can taste the difference between freshly cooked food and frozen food. Every time I stumble upon video about italians mad at food it amazes me the amount of highly processed food... The real signature of mediterranean traditional food (not only italian... But also greek, spanish, north african e south french food) is just the opposite of "processed". Pick a ripe tomato from your garden, smash it on a slice of real (flour, yeast, water and salt. Period) bread, sprinkle some salt, drop some good olive oil and taste Italy. Keep it simple.

There are ways for Carlo to eat Authentic Italian Food over here in America: (1) Carlo and Sarah can contact Italian Food Restaurants to figure out what Restaurants serves Their Customers Italian Meals that have Their Ingredients officially sourced from Italy; (2) They could figure out how to have Authentic Italian Foods shipped directly to Them once a Month, and maybe even sent over from Carlo's Mother! (3), If possible, Carlo and Sarah could find out which Italian Restaurant(s) will allow Them to get involved in the making of some of Carlo's Favorite Italian Dishes, then take Their Freshly-Made Meals Home with Them. This way, They could stock up Their Refridgerator and Freezer with Freshly-Made Imported Italian Food the way that They like it, for at least a Week or longer. And lastly, (4) Just like Italian Chefs and Moms (and Dads), Carlo and Sarah can create an Italian Herb Garden Outside, or make a Miniature Italian Herb Garden in the Kitchen, so Fresh Herbs can always be available to Them, and save Money.
