Ruud is the perfect example of a player who doesn't have generational talent, but a mind of steel. At times he has played well, at times bad, but he is still there. Quietly moving forward. Last year he would win every ATP 250. This year he has reached one ATP 1000 final and one semifinal and two grand slam finals. Edit: And Torino Atp finals final.

Not just saying it because he didnt prevail down there, but the hard court at US Open is slower than the one at the Australian Open. Thats why he has somewhat success on the hard courts over in America, I think Miami and Indian Wells are THE slowest ones they have on tour, because of the slower pace and it bounces higher. Thats why you're never gonna see him win at Wimbledon, and most likely not at Australian Open either. I wanna see him win something else than the ATP250s where he's a constant 1st seed tho, its about time now. Tennis is moving into an odd Era, there's no clear cut no. 2 in the world behind Alcaraz after Djokovic retires, so there's a lot of space up for grabs.

At some point he said Alcaraz was tired and was using the crowd to motivate him and so many others. A commentator should be neutral and not constantly look for what was wrong with a player's game. Ruud reads them well, but for pure speed I do think Alcaraz is faster.

Ruud returning just over the net when it mattered was not world no2 material. It was laughable and frustrating to see such short forehands

Finally a decent, respectful and talented player who will kick these immature wannabes off the chart. ( Bye Kyrgios, Zverev, Rublev and other tantrum throwing mediocre players ) Made tennis great again these two! I loved Tiafoe and Sinner too!

Carlos is the next thing after nadal, djokovic and federer, once they all retire and it wont be long, federer already semiretired and may play one more wimbledon and nadal has injuries. djokovic may stay a few more years but this is the next big player, if he can eat right, ensure rest, work the gym, and wont be distracted by whatever outside the court and be injury free

the last two players to become the youngest world no.1 by winning the US Open (Safin, Hewitt) only won 1 more slam each (granted it's mainly because of Federer) hopefully Alcaraz can do better

@@danbotez1307 that's true the 2004 Australian Open even without Federer, Safin was so drained by the final Idon't think he would have been able to take on Hewitt/Ferrero/Nalbandian at that time

@@martin3203 just managing expectations people are calling 10+ slams for Alcaraz because "he's achieved so much at a young age already" but not all young prodigies get to win many slams Michael Chang won a slam at 17 (youngest ever), and never won another one

@@lotus630 Sure, but there isn't one thing Chang did better than Alcaraz. Chang got everything out of his ability. If Alcaraz gets 50% out of his ability he'll be a hall-of-famer.

Have some respect for Ruud. Alcaraz didnt win the match convincingly, it was tight and Ruud isnt even very experienced on hard court.. Actually, it could have turned out differently had Ruud executed his two set points in the 3rd set. Alcaraz only managed to break Ruud once in the 4th set and they won one set each + the tight 3rd which Ruud could have won (he actually had the edge in the 3rd).

Didn't win the match convincingly? How so? Ruud didn't even get a match point. It was not close in the last set. Accept it, your man lost. Be sport.
