Pete didn't do anything that everyone inside of and outside of baseball has done at one time or another. But he did nothing to really impact the integrity of the game like everyone involved with the Astros. The ringleaders of the scheme (Cora and Beltran) and the leaders of the Astros who either orchestrated the need to cheat (Lunhow) or did not put a stop to it (Hinch) need to be banned permanently from any involvement with organized baseball - MLB, MiLB, Independent Leagues, NCAA, High School, Little League, etc.

Sam Westing - I hardly think so and yes I remember it very well. MLB as it is called today suffered zero effects from what Pete Rose did. Attendance was not impacted. No teams felt cheated by his actions. Fans didn’t feel cheated. You might want to think twice about challenging my memory, though. I remember his rookie season, I saw Houston play in their first season (and saw them beat a horrible Cubs team at Wrigley). I’m guessing I have just a few more years following the sport than you!

Well they should investigate, but they're not. Now there's more information that the Athletic reported on how Beltran's role was bigger than what we thought in all of this. Between 2014 and 2019, Beltran was with the Astros in 2017 (one season ONLY) and all the rest of the years, he was with the Yankees organization 🤔🤔🤔. He was with the Yankees from 2014-2016 and then again from 2018-2019. But no one is questioning the years that he was with the Yankees. If teams caught on to what the Astros were doing (including the Yankees) why did the Yankees rehire Beltran after he left the Astros? According to an article recently released by the Athletic, when Beltran was hired by the Astros, he told them that their sign stealing methods were "behind the times," suggesting Beltran didn't begin this in Houston. Yes, they would find a lot more if they investigated EVERY team in baseball.

The Astros had already had their system in place in September of 2016 before Cora and Beltran were even part of their team...Cora was hired to be bench coach in November of 2016. So the Astro's owner saying that Cora was the master mind is just throwing Cora under the bus because the actual Astros management team under the GM were behind the scheme. This is some heavy stuff to have a team's upper management using camera's, computers and statistical analysis to break down catchers signs and relay them to their batters in real time to help them have a huge advantage.

Interesting part of that article they leave out is upon arriving to Houston, Beltran said the Astros "were behind on the times". Beltran was employed by Yankees 2014-2016 and again 2018-2019. So Beltran, the Kingpin, comes up with this elaborate scheme the one year he's with Astros in 2017? I think there'a a bigger picture here that people are either overlooking or ignoring. Not the same. A pitcher will tell you they would rather face a juiced up hitter than someone that knows what pitches are coming. Lots of teams had players on steroids, pitchers and hitters. Lots of players used substances to get an edge from the beginning of baseball, and lots of players used substances before they were illegal. Stealing signs electronically is much different than having a couple juiced players on each team. You can't really put them in the same category, but I suppose they could all go into the Hall of Shame.

Would it be a reach for the commish to backpedal from Beltran and Luhnow to their previous organizations and see just how significant their roles with those clubs may have been too? It emerged that the nationals switched signs vs Houston in the world series. Has anyone noticed that St. Louis had the worst offensive showing in pennant history after hitting the nationals hard in the regular season and going 5-2 against? The nationals also defeated the Brewers after the Brewers posting a 4-2 mark against the nationals. I don't think the commissioner is going to want to open that door and ask the nationals if they may have also switched their signs against all of the teams in the post season. It's all speculation and I'm not accusing anyone of anything. It's just that it's there in the regular season and post season box scores. Now that we know that the nationals will only admit they switched their signs in the world series, it's at least valid to ask "why did the 2 national league clubs hit them hard in the regular season and lay a goose egg in the post season against the very same players"?
