Eric - I guess so. A team that never won anything all of a sudden became champions. It not only impacted the integrity of the game, killed several careers (pitchers, a manager, etc.). That entire 2017 team should be banned for the upcoming season and the team declared ineligible for a postseason for 10 years. They should have to play this upcoming season with minor leaguers and forfeit all TV revenues.

I’m an astros fan, and honestly I can’t support this team right now. I was hoping we would own up to it, say that the title was null and void, and say we were going to try to win it the right way, but we didn’t do that. Their apology was a real tear jerker, and dripping with sincerity & remorse, so much so that I quit as a fan. A lot of these players are making more money in a season "playing" than most of us will make in a life time of "work" and are cheating and lying as we are paying to watch. I am a Toronto Blue Jays fan, have never listened to YES before the story on Houston broke and I've been very impressed with the coverage you provide. I want to contribute a very important piece of information. I played baseball at a very high level and can tell you all that KNOWING what pitches are coming your way each and every game not only gives you a massive advantage on the field but it also has a massive impact and advantage off of it - let me explain something that not many media outlets are because they don't understand the players perspective. Everyone in the Bigs and competitive ball knows each other well, we grew up playing with and against each other - the best players especially the best pitchers in the league, you are definitely aware of as a hitter. If you KNOW what pitches are coming your way, you not only have an advantage at the plate, you have it on the base pads, you have a mental advantage which puts your body and mind at ease going into any situation offensively that comes your way because you KNOW exactly what's coming. The advantage you have each and every day is from the serious lack of mental and physical grind regardless of how poorly your team preforms on the mound and defensively. Over the course of an entire season, an entire playoff run, your team plays at a much fresher capability and mindset than every single other team. It's not only underhanded what the Houston Astros players, management and organization have done to baseball - but it's down right disgusting. As a sports fan especially as a baseball fan, I'm thoroughly disappointed with what Houston has done.

LadyAngler They should play, but with a minor league roster (or with players who were not on the team in 2016 thru 2019). They should be forced to lower ticket prices by 20-50%. They should forfeit all TV revenues with that money going to fans who bought tickets as restitution. Above all, they must be stripped of the 2017 title, precedent or not. But we know that isn’t going to happen. Instead, fans must show their displeasure by not going to games. I’m all in for doing that.

There is A LOT you can do to someone WITHOUT HURTING them but make it VERY MISERABLE. Make friends with people in hotels find out where they are staying when traveling and get those fire alarms going in the middle of the night to evacuate the building for a few hours. Interesting. They’re not afraid of punishing a team or a player in soccer. There’s something called relegation for teams that perform at the bottom of the major league over 1-3 seasons, depending on the country, and promotion of a team from a lower league when they consistently towards the top. They also don’t have players unions to contend with when discipline is needed. (Now soccer does have its own issues, like very corrupt national soccer associations.) The Astros would have been relegated in 2014 had MLB had relegation in place. Had we had that rule in place (like they have anywhere else but the USA and Canada), the Astros going to the World Series would most likely not happen by 2017 (sign stealing program or not).
