Attack them from counter-clockwise so your sword's hurtbox tags their hitbox before it hits their weapon's deflectbox.

it's not always exactly as you described it but yes, if link looks to the right he becomes right handed and a guard looking to the left becomes left handed so in the specific case of a guard to your right you have to be slightly clockwise instead, this was probably done in the original game because mirroring sprites is easier

Basically you just have to aim for the sword to hit the side opposite of the weapon.

In my current run, I have a ring that makes rupees, an amulet that decreases magic consumption, and another amulet that increases rupee gains. The magic shop in the village also happened to carry four magic potions, letting me turn 60 rupees into north of 100 for each of them.

You played it! Yes! Hell yeah I almost beat it yesterday. Ended up getting bodied on floor 12 I got extremely lucky with all the drops on the first and second floor. It's so hard but so fun. Not every bombable wall has an indicator. I don't think anyone's talked about the lighting effects in this. Very well done

I believe the Strafe button exists because you could only strafe when you were holding a charged attack, but it was a really useful ability.

I don't like the way he designed the bombs, with all the fake cracks, and then what you don't know is that you can bomb walls WITHOUT cracks. The thing you have to do that Carl NEVER does is look at the map. Only try using bombs if it makes sense for there to be a room. Like at one point Carl even tries bombing a crack that leads into a room he's already been in before. When you have a big black space that could be a room between other rooms, that's probably a secret room.

I hope they integrate variable quests in the city and maybe expanding the dwarfen one to have more of the Charme of the first city just so you don't get bored by the game after a certain amount of hours because of the chain quests, besides that I think it's an awesome game and I hope it grows even more

Hey Carl, not sure if it works in this game, but in ALttP, you could hold the sword out and tap walls by tapping in the direction of the wall when next to it. The bombable wall spots would make a different noise.

Interesting, there was a roguelike of the original LoZ fairly recently that was pretty fun. I was wondering if this was similar, but that was a ROM (which makes it even more impressive in some ways that this, not to say this isn't impressive) while this is a PC app made from scratch using LttP assets over four years. Been playing this recently, i love it but theres a few issues to be worked out. -Dark rooms are way too common -the first floors need a couple different songs, i love the castle theme but you spend a load of time here and its gets really repetitive -the village sidequest takes forever and feels a little out of place for a roguelike

@@SerHenkan The problem with the dwarven village chests is that it's a big bombable-wall maze with no indicators and no way to check the walls via sword-poke. (You have to bomb the north-left wall to even get started.) As it is currently, it's basically gambling with bombs, and I doubt it's worth the trouble.

Roguelikes feel like you're playing the first ten hours of a JRPG over and over again. Whereas even in games like Dark Souls, there's progress even if you die a lot, so these types of games are more hardcore than Souls. That being said, I've been wanting some version of this in A Link to the Past for a very long time now. This and Breath of the Wild, I could play forever if only there was infinite content.

This looks fun but the curse system is really dumb. I'd be totally ok if you got cursed for stepping on a trap or something similar, but the fact that just opening chests could just cripple the run is not fun
